I searched the forum and found very little input on anyone playing with a really heavy driver shaft. I have an extremely fast swing speed and found out that my ballspeed off my driver is averaging around 190 mph (130+mph ss). I currently play with a 78 gram ust proforce v2 xstiff flex. I usually hit about 10 fairways a round. My tempo with my irons is much better than with my woods and I'm much more consistent with them as well. I'm seriously giving thought to upgrading to the ust proforce v2 96 gram shaft in the x flex for my driver to help my tempo and because it has an extremely low torque rating of like 1.6 or something ludicrous like that.

my spin rate is high as well at like 3200 rpm or something like that. Does anyone else have any recommendations or input. I want to bring my spin rate down and help my tempo, and I'm hoping a beefier shaft will do it. do you think that this will help or should I start looking at something with a lower loft to it like maybe an adams 7* Ld head. my typical launch angle is around 10* and I have a 9.5* cleveland hibore monster xls head. any help is appreciated.

I'm not a 0.8 handicap, but I drive the ball pretty well, and I played with the exact shaft you're considering last year (ProForce V2 Xflex 96 gram/907D1 9.5*). I really had to swing all out to maximize distance with that shaft, and it feels stout. But I was extremely accurate and it produced the low-mid ball flight you're looking for. I'd still have it but a friend who was new to the game hit it with me one round and fell in love. He has nowhere near the swing speed recommended for the shaft, but he loves it because it's so accurate, and the weight keeps his tempo in check. I really like the V2, I've got them in a hybrid and fairway wood and they just perform.

How about this, HM-40 Tour Gold 95-X for $13 closeout at http://www.aldilastore.com/

I had the V2 76g X in a 905T but ended up breaking it when I accidentally backed over my bag one Sunday. Also have the HM-40 95-X (both were/are 44" finished length). The original plan was to swap the HM-40 back in for the broken V2 but ended up putting in a Dynamic Gold SL S-300 instead.

So I haven't played the HM-40 recently. It originally got retired after I accepted the fact that I didn't have enough "juice" to get it up into the air. Never had trouble getting the V2 in the air and I liked playing it when I was "ON", not so much on an off day though.

The HM-40 might be something you could consider unless the money is an issue

glad to know that other people have the experience with stouter shafts. I think I'll stick with the v2 rather than the aldila because it is a lower torque rating which should help with the dispersion. the current torque rating in my shaft is 2.2 and the heavier v2 is way down at 1.6. I've got to do something to get my spin down a little more. thanks for the input guys.... only problem is that with my current setup I shot a 33 today over 9 holes before it got dark.

I played last week and did something a little different than usual, I took a slow take away on all my swing almost slow motion and notice that I made solid contact with everything, driver, irons fairway woods, my tempo seem to improve, just my 2 cents.........
