I only got my carry bag this year and have noticed that the clubs all hit each other as i walk. This is rather bad as it means i cant walk while someone is having a shot or it will put them off. Aside from getting covers, are there any options?

Why not just stop walking for a the time it takes the other player to hit?

It's slower - he might be catching up. He also might be talking about players on adjacent holes.

Perhaps I'm the only one playing a muni course, but if the subtle click of clubs is the worst sound I hear when playing I am a pretty happy guy.

a towel or iron covers like mentioned above, I usually jusr rest my arm on the top of the bag (over the club heads) as I walk and that seems to silence them pretty well. kinda comfortable too.

Ye I do the same. But a towel works just as well, it's just a pit of a pain to get the clubs out of the bag sometimes.

Check the length of your strap. If the bag rides below the buttocks rather than on the hip, you'll hear more rattle.

I was just gonna suggest this. Check the straps on your bag. Ever notice if you pull up your bag a bit sometimes that rattling will go away.

Plus carrying the bag that low is bad on your back. It should be higher on your back.

Sometimes its catching up, but usually i like to play fast so i'll try and walk up a bit as long as im not in the way or distracting the guy hitting. I hate slow play so i try to keep moving. Might only gain 15 meters but it all helps. Get to the ball early, assess my options etc....

Hold the clubs with your hand so that they dont clank together.

Yup works just fine. I do it whenever I pass an adjacent tee box or someone that's come wayward or if I go wayward. Not a fan of iron headcovers since that would mean I'd have to clean my club after every shot before putting the headcover back on.

True that.

Anyway, reach your hand over the top of the bag and just palm the irons when you're walking near other players. That works for me, and the towel thing is useful but sometimes it can be uneffective, the towel falling out or slipping from a few clubs.

That's what I used to do. But I bought a speed cart so I don't worry about that anymore. That's the way to go.
