Hi all,

I have been golfing for quite a while and cannot seem to get better. I have only broke 80 once, and am very inconsistent with everything. I don't know what good impact is, or even how to get there. I also don't feel like the clubhead is in the right spot throughout the swing. I watch others and they seem so effortless and like they can just go at it as hard as possible.

I also get confused with whether or not the swing is an around thing, or up and down. If it were around, the clubface would have to open up and shut, but the timing on that seems like it would not be consistant at all.

All in all, I just need some expert help and maybe drills and training aids if those work.

Thanks All!

Yeah, sorry about that. I just had some free time with my Droid Incredible and figured I would try to get some pointers. I don't know why Youtube flipped them. I will try to get some others posted. Thanks for your time.

Rotate your top hand 10 degrees anticlockwise.

to answer your question "is the swing around or up and down", i would consider the fundamentals of the swing to be mostly "around", i.e around the spine.

very good swing by the way.

always give way to the Greenskeeper!!

in my bag:
whatever clubs i find left behind on the course... But the Ping Anser will never be beaten!!

    • Shot 50/41 today. I didn't hit the ball particularly well but not as poorly as the score would indicate. I just happened to hit it in some really punishing places that wound up taking one or two strokes just to hit back into play. The undergrowth and the fescue are really growing in at the course. Lipped out and burned a few edges on putts, too. I always say when I miss putts by that small a margin that they're eventually going to drop as long as I don't deviate from the process and that's exactly what started happening on the back 9. I ended up making a couple of mid-length putts. Five over on the back included a triple bogey on 17.
    • Birdied the par 5 #14 at Quail Brook GC. Hit a high draw 3W just short of the green on my second shot, chipped just right of the back right flag to about 12' and made the putt. It's starting to look like I'm going to get at least 20 rounds at Quail Brook for it to qualify as my home course but I've been adding the birdies there to my away composite for so long that I don't feel like separating it all now. So the away composite will simply be an aggregate of all my birdie holes for the year.

    • Day 1 - First chipping and pitching. Focus on a better grip, the fundamentals and taking the club back on plane, not outside. Feels good. Then some full swings. Focus on improving the setup. Weight more forward, more bent over, and same grip stuff.
    • Congrats on the improvement. Cheers for lots of continued improvement in the future. IMO you've gotta get away from these spots… Those are partly "results" as the work will begin on things earlier in the swing. Good luck.
