calculating my handicap

Ok so I have 17 cards from the last 2 months or so that Ive been tracking my scores more religiously. 6 of which are only 9 hole rounds...should I be counting these toward my handicap? Using http://www.golfhandicapcalculator.org/ I took every 9 hole round and doubled the score and used it as my 18 hole score...just happened that (40) would have lowered my best (82 today) since I've been on this island but it didnt really happen since it was 9 doubled...so how should I be calculating this...I play blue/back tees and putt them out...shot a 39 on the back 9 today with 2 doubles (1 three putt and 1 four putt) 2 birdes and 1 bogey...very windty today too
So if I use my 9 hole scores doubled the website calculated a 10.7...if i threw out the 9 hole scores completely and just used my 11 18 hole rounds its an 11.2 per the site
my course is 6714 yards from the blues and has a Course rating of 71.3 and slope of 122

thanks guys...wish me luck on working my way to a single digit handicap hopefully...I miss the taste of 70s as I've shot a couple high 70s rounds in the past...just not since I moved to Okinawa in May.

Nine-hole scores should not be doubled. They are paired up to form 18-hole scores. So your first and second nine-hole scores get added together and so forth. You need to get the ratings/slopes for the nines you played.

the card only has a rating/slope for the course/18...plus it seems i couldnt pair them to form 18 hole scores as one 9 seems easier than the other

When getting ratings/slopes for 9 holes on a course, you just divide the 18-hole rating/slope in half, I believe. Anyone correct me if I'm wrong but it worked for me when I used that website.

My home course uses ghin.com to manage handicaps and you can look up ratings/slopes for front and back nines of different courses. This lookup feature is available to anyone. I'm not sure if they have Okinawa courses. USGA rules require that the course have a separate front and back nine rating to use a nine-hole score for handicap. Once the two nine-hole scores are added, the course rating is the sum of the two nine-hole course ratings, and the slope is the average of the two slopes, rounded to the nearest whole number.

The nines should be paired to form an 18 hole score and you may be able to find the information on-line or you could ask the pro staff. I doubled a nine once this year and then found out that I needed a pair so that is a common misconception. Turns out the nine I should have paired it with would have made my score 1 stroke less so no real harm there. The only time you get any variance is if you finish at least 13 holes and then scores for unplayed holes must be recorded as par plus any handicap strokes that you are entitled to receive on the unplayed holes. The rule for computing the rating/slope for two 9s combined into an 18 is: 18-hole rating = sum of the two 9-hole ratings, 18-hole slope = average of the two 9-hole slopes. This accounts for unequal difficulties. If you really can't find the separate ratings for the two 9s of an 18-hole course, you can get by with using half the rating and the full slope for the 9-hole round... it's not quite correct, but it's probably close.
