Well I guess I will start off by saying that I just recently got back into golf after a year hiatus from it. I started playing in the spring of 08 and played a lot. The last time out i shot 100. I know that's not very good but I know with practice and playing a lot i can bring that down. Lately, I've been thinking a lot about going to one of these 16 month golf universities to get an associates so I can work in the golf industry. I love the game and just want to work around it. I have several questions though. 1) How legit are these 16 month universities? 2) Has anyone on here ever graduated from one? If so, How easy was it to find a job? And how limited were you with just an associates? 3) Does it matter that I am not that good of a player? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to make this decision blind due to that fact that most of them cost about $13,000 and I would have to relocate to do this

depends heavily on what you want to do. what is the specific job you're looking for? what golf university? what kind of associates are you getting?

If you know any head pros at a country club, you might go ask them. No one I know very well has gone to one of those schools. Most of the people I know got a 4-year college degree in something, maybe played college golf, and then went to work in the golf industry.

Also, the golf industry has several sectors. There's the courses and country clubs - both as golfing operations and horticultural ecosystems (maintenance and greens keeping); the teaching pros; the golf superstores; and the golf equipment manufacturers.

From what I understand, some of these golf industry trade schools are PGA-affiliated, others are not. You might hunt around on the PGA and LGPA websites and see what you find.

    • Yes.  Did he not hit the range before the round? When my first few pre-round drives aren't what I expect, the first thing I check is my driver settings, in case they changed.  I am on my second adjustable driver and I am still not trusting that golf gremlins don't change it between rounds. The second thing I check is my alignment and setup, and that is far more often the culprit than my settings. In any case, there are some simple things that I imagine should be on a professional player's pre-round checklist that I am surprised when they aren't.  One of those is the settings for any adjustable clubs.
    • It was also set at B1 at a previous event, and… so there's dubiousness around whether he's telling the truth (again).
