After trying to watch the front of the ball during the swing, i have found much cleaner contact with the pill. But i find that my divots do tail to the left of the target, but at least they are in front of the ball right?

So is this normal as the swing is a circular motion so at some point the club has to head left around your body?

Or should i be looking to push out more so the divot points right of the target and promote that draw?

It's all in how you are wanting to shape the shot. If you are taking a divot after the ball, your striking the ball clean.

remember tho its not all about taking a divot. I mean I like to take a divot but I know alot of pros who dont. Show me a video of Graeme McDowell taking a divot cause I dont think Ive ever seen him take one, lol. If all you focus on is taking a divot it could lead you to cutting across the ball

Well thats the thing. I do fade the ball 5-10 yards. But its some of the best striking and consistency that i have felt. I am trying to change my natural shot to a baby draw, so should my divots head to the right of the target?

not nessasarly, mine are straight now, use to be going to the left slightly before my swing got fixed. Im pretty sure charlie wi's and mike bennets divots are pretty straight because they catch the ball on the inside right before the point of tangency (the straight part) so when they get to the divot it is straight instead of going right.

Okay straight is good. What did you fix with your swing?

i took lessons and many things changed it, Got my swing path more going from the inside. I use to come over the top or cut across the ball.

My divots tend to arc to the right (I'm a lefty) and I play a straight shot most of the time. The start of the divot is always straight at the target though.

I'm not searching you tube now but I've never seen a great wedge player (all tour pros are) that doesn't take a divot after the ball. It might be very small and shallow, but it is there. Agree, the focus of the swing shouldn't be what happens after impact but a divot is the result of good things happening.

I'm left handed and I want my divots to go towards the target. I have issues hitting huge hooks and when the is happening they are pointing 30 degrees left of target.

If you're statrting the ball off way to the right then the divot should be straight. If you're starting it straight then it will be a little to the left because its AFTER the ball.

That makes sense to me. One of the guys i play with (off 1.0) his divots point left, but he always hits a straight shot.

    • Day 23: weird day, and only had a little bit of time. Just did mirror work again, working on where the elbow is in the downswing
    • I flipped over to this tonight and thoroughly enjoyed it. Anyone else watch? I picked it up during the golf relay event, but seeing these pros out having fun in alternative events was refreshing and entertaining. I’m sure it will be on in reruns in the next week or so, so I won’t spoil the outcome. Im curious what others thought of it. I’m recording it’s later airing to see the beginning.
    • Day 443 - 2025-12-17 Made a few swings in testing some things out at another academy. Might pop up on someone else's podcast in a few weeks.
    • Day 37 (17 Dec 25) - nine hole round with my good friend.  We got paired up with a couple of the men’s group regulars as part of their shootout.  Started off with a wonderful quad bogie and then a dbl on three to be six over thru three holes.  Game went 180° over the next five as I shot one under (including a chip in birdie on hole six and four up and down 1 putt pars) for a net finish of five over. What could have been a really tough nine became a solid finish due to staying in the moment and not checking out.  Great day in course management and keeping perspective .
    • Day 127 12-17 Backswing and flow practice. Took advantage of the 60 degeee weather(it was 20 degrees Sunday)
