tiger's conventional swing doesn't really look like his old swing.

his new swing looks pretty good though.

"stack and tilt tiger".........no, in the first pic it looks like he has begun the weight shift in the transition, but sean doesnt like too much weight shift but "stack and tilt tiger" cmon lets be serious

The changes are also quite evident in a DTL view. I think Tiger is on the right track.

Erik,

Please correct me if I am wrong on this. Just trying to understand. I'm comparing the 2 different setups. It appears, to me,

1. that his head in either set does not move laterally all that much. I'm comparing the initial setup pic with the 2nd pic of each. His head moves slightly more in the older set but again, not all that much.

2. his hips do not move laterally all that much either. I'm looking at his forward hip at the belt line. He does not move laterally at all from pic 1 to pic 2 in either set.

The only difference in either is that in his latest pictures he is set further forward with his core thus setting his weight further forward at address and in the back swing. his core/spine appears to stay at the same position in either set. The earlier set it appears as though he does tilt his core at tad at the top of the back swing.

Am I seeing this correctly? Seems to me the swings are the same, other then the initial setup and resulting backswing from this setup. Yes? No?

Okay, here are some of the prior frames. You're a hater and yet you've got no actual facts to back up your vitriol.

Sean teaches something that's very S&T-like.; Quite similar. And as I said, I didn't create the image, so your dislike is misplaced. I specifically left S&T; out of anything I'd written.
1. that his head in either set does not move laterally all that much. I'm comparing the initial setup pic with the 2nd pic of each. His head moves slightly more in the older set but again, not all that much.

Yes, it moves more in the 2009 photos. In the top photos it moves about half an inch, if that (don't let the slight rotation fool you - look at the knob on the top of his cap) and in the bottom it moves about three inches.

2. his hips do not move laterally all that much either. I'm looking at his forward hip at the belt line. He does not move laterally at all from pic 1 to pic 2 in either set.

There's a little sliding in the bottom picture but I agree, not enough to comment on.

What you'll note is where the weight's set. You'll note that the hips have turned more and on more of an angled plane in the 2010 images (his right knee has straightened more to allow for this).
The only difference in either is that in his latest pictures he is set further forward with his core thus setting his weight further forward at address and in the back swing. his core/spine appears to stay at the same position in either set. The earlier set it appears as though he does tilt his core at tad at the top of the back swing.

No, you're going to see a hand path that's more in in the DTL view, steeper shoulders, the hip/knee action, the shoulder angle at setup is flatter, and a few other tweaks if you had a video. As often as Tiger's on TV there aren't many great true FO or DTL videos of him. We'll get some better ones next year after the changes have baked themselves in a bit more.

It'd be nice if the networks would train their camera guys to setup in correct FO and DTL views so analysis would be much easier.

I think they often use stationary cameras and many times Stevie will drape a towel over them or something. So they get what they get a lot of the time... and often the walking cameras aren't the high-speed ones.

Thanks for the response : )

As far as the hip rotation is concern, being further and more at an angled plane, is that not a result of his forward setup? Does he, or anyone else using this initial setup, have much of a choice? Keeping the right leg straight, weight forward, initates this hip angle and turn would it not?

Why is that?

So they can't film him. He's sensitive about that sort of stuff.

His knee is bent about the same at setup now as with Haney. His hips are in almost the same spot, but his upper center (or head) is a bit more forward than the hips, so Tiger isn't tilted back as much. His knee straightens more which allows it to work not only up but back (left in a DTL view) and turn his hips more.

But no, I don't think his backswing is purely a result of his setup, not at all. I can set up with 80% of my weight forward and not turn my hips, not let the right hip rise, etc.

not really.

When your under the microscope like him and when your new swing changes aren't working full you mightn't want people recording it.

not really.

If people are stupid enough not to know that those things take time, well then their opinion ain't worth a penny anyway.

A lot of people are that stupid.

Now, let's stick to the topic, please.

In the last video of Tiger on the driving range in Australia that shortstop20 posted, it looks like his hands are getting deeper and he is "less stuck" than he was before and has more room for his hands through impact vs the out and around Haney swing. Would you agree with this Erik or is there still more improvement to be mde for him in your eyes in this area?
