I put an add up in the BST for a restore project for a SC Stainless Studio Newport
and fellow wrx'er hooked me up today
i wont disclose the price i paid, but it was a deal to not pass up

i have emails from the seller, who sent hi-res pics to the custom shop to make sure they would be able to resotre it - AND THEY CAN!

i should have it in a couple weeks and then off to the Custom Shop for a full restore w COA
i will report back and post after pics once it gets here

SUPER STOKED for this project!

now colors - should i just go stock? or omething different
this will be a gamer and not sit on my shelf to look pretty, so im not worrid about trying to make a buck on it
my plan is to do one more putter next year and keep them for my kids when they go off to college to play golf
i think it would be sweet if they had a cool vintage Scotty in their bag for their buddies to drool over

PS - my kids are only 2.5 and 5 months!! hahahah!!!! (yes...pappa is dreaming already!! hahah)

let me know what you think!!

I'd definitely go with an awesome new color scheme. Definitely jealous. Can't wait to see the final product.

Waiting out the 2 feet of snow that just dropped on the course....

Just curious if you don't mind me asking how much is the custom shop charging to restore it?

Looks like a great project. Was considering picking up a cheap Scotty on ebay and getting it refinished and all that stuff at the custom shop in August 2010 after moving to the US for college.
My plans have changed completely now and I'm getting my Scotty tomorrow but I'm still interested in doing something similar in the future.
If I were you, I'd throw a little Rickie Fowler orange in there and you seem to be a fan of him. Orange / white gets my vote.

as always im torn on the color

if i get it refinished in a similar color to my Circa (charcoal mist) i may go lime green/white if i leave it the stock finish, probably orange/white going to add a sighline on the flange and maybe 3 scotty dots on the outside of the toe, like Fowlers putter no initials or anything else tho also looking into Lamont or Slighter for a refinish too seems like it might be a bit cheaper and maybe better work - they come highly reccomended i dont really care about a SC shaftband or cover - i dont even use a Scotty cover right now being its going to be a gamer, i might not care about the COA either... i have a couple weeks to decide, as it wont be in my possession for a few weeks yet

I would go with the orange and get yourself the nice orange and grey headcover with the matching Orange Baby T grip.

I am doing the same thing this winter with the Pro Platinum I got off of Ebay. Right now I am leaning towards Restoration Golf for the refinishing. Their prices seem pretty good and from the looks of things they do good work. Anyone heard of or used them before?
