Just watched the Foley episode. Couple of thoughts:

1. He does look a little nerdy, bat thats okay. He's an instructor, not the model of cool.
2. I really liked WHAT he said, but not always HOW he said it. He did come across as douchey sometimes.
3. I think the blend of technical knowledge and its application to actually playing better is hard. He seems to be doing fairly well with it and explained things in a generally good way (lose the big words and the Plato quotes though). I think this might be partially the appeal to Tiger. It's been mentioned by other PGA Tour pro's and instructors that Tiger is very technical and likes to understand the detailed mechanics of the swing - even down to the putting stroke. Foley seems to play to that type of person.

First time I've ever 'seen Sean' (spell that 10 times fast) or heard his instruction.

My first impression fwiw:

1. Agree with others, Sean came across a little douchey.  Always been there, or some ego riding along with the bagging Tiger? dunno.

2. Recognized some not so veiled S&T for sure - good to see.

3. All in all I'd be much more apt to watch his show rather than Mr. "Let's DO This!!"

1. Foley is definitely trying to bring another "look" to the game of golf that I guess is supposed to appeal to the next generation vs. the last, more traditional generation ie. David Leadbetter, Haney, Harmon, etc.  Not sure yet if it's working for him.

2. While I like Foley's content (on this show and from the other times I have heard him talk), I do find that he tries very carefully to not reveal any tips or ideas that may appear to have been taken straight from the SnT methods.  With this, he seperates himself from the SnT "branding" that seems to have a black or white following leaving him pretty much "neutral" which is too bad because SnT should get more credit from him.

3. I find him to be likeable enough and can see why the pros like working with him.  He's direct, and I'm sure isn't afraid to tell someone where to go if need be vs. Haney who was a spineless SAP around Tiger.

All in all, while Foley isn't perfect, for me he is certainly a "breath of fresh air" vs. the other poser teachers who continue to promote outdated and sometimes outright ridiculous teaching methods.
