This is called a rhetorical question.

Rhetorical means you answered it

I would say there is a great chance you are hitting high shots with poor distance because you are flipping through impact. A 210 fps video would be ideal for confirming this, but it is extremely common. My guess is when you hit it 270 you were timing your flip and getting away with it. Meaning you flipped more or less after impact. Where now, you are flipping prior to or during impact and hitting poor shots. That is the problem with flipping, or one of them at least, you don't do it the same every time. I fixed this in my swing (more or less) this year. I am hitting the ball straighter and further because of it. Read Bobby Clampett's "The Impact Zone" and buy a Tour Striker training club. Thank me later.

thx what i meant to ask was with the driver do you want to have a flat wrist thru impact im confused with flipping and releasing (squaring) the club thru impact. also when you see pros with alot of lag in there swing it looks as if they are flipping it!
do you not want the clubhead passing your hands at impact?

I am not qualified to answer this, but my opinion is that a flat left wrist is used from the putter to the driver. I want my hands leading the clubhead on all full shots for sure. That left wrist breaking down is trouble. Flipping is bad news man and what ruins many a golf swing. While pros make look like they are flipping, I assure you very few are.

Learn the difference in the address position and impact position if you don't already know. I can't believe it took me so long to figure this out. It was one of many things that helped me this past year.

This image shows it pretty well...
