I'm looking to getting my mom some upgraded clubs (she currently uses Honma). She is a 8 handicap and wasn't sure what to get her. I was looking strictly had senior or lady styles... any suggestions?

Pay for a fitting and go with her. Let her pick them out or go with the fitting results.

Basically, if she's a true 8.0 index, that's very good for a female. Anything below 12 is somewhat rare in my experience. She probably has a good idea what works. A much better idea than we would have.

Is she asking for an "upgrade" from her Honma clubs?

No she isn't asking for an upgrade but the clubs are pretty old so I'm thinking she needs an upgrade. We use to live in Japan so for irons, she only had Honma's and Maruman's. I'm wondering if I could open her mind to Tayloremade or Calloway irons.

Good for you to want to get your mom some new sticks. But be sure she is willing to part with the old ones. They could be "old" for a reason. Women are known for attaching emotions to physical things. Well, men are too I guess. But chics seems to do it more from what I can see. As an 8 hcp, I would have her involved in the process.

Good luck with the "Tayloremade" and "Calloway".

hahahaha I finally caught on to my mispelling. Thank you for the humor. I didn't realize that we had a spell check function in our reply box.

    • Imma throw a dart in the dark as no one can tell what is happening once every fourth iron shot per your OP. This might sound counterintuitive but if ball position is too far back in the stance folks are known to throw down clubhead steeply. Could be happening. And yes, @billchaois not wrong; clubhead tends to bottom out wherever your pressure is. So slide forward (not sway), then hit.
    • Day 300 (!): did a stack session.
    • Day 24: Missed my weekly round due to a last minute little league makeup game this morning. Managed to get in some backswing rehearsals while grilling sausages for dinner, and then putted around the office/laundry room after dinner.
    • but I don't understand how that's possible you still want your head to stay back you don't want the upper body coming forward and plus I've tried feeling that and it made my fat shots worse and I then tend to pull and sky all my shots especially with driver because I get in front of it dont need force plates to see i finish on my left side
