Yesterday I played Oakland Hills for the first time and I have to say that it is everything that it is made out to be. I was truly walking on sacred ground. I had 3 triples, one of which came from taking three stokes to get out of a bunker. I have never had to play out of a bunker where the lip was over my head. The rough was thick, but reasonable in length.

I had pars and bogeys on all but 4 holes. Quite a few bogeys were due to three putts, which is easy to do there with all the undulations and unseen breaks in the greens. I hit a career shot on #10 from 208 uphill and put it about 9' from the hole. I could have strangled the caddy who said, "This would make a nice birdie." during my putting routine. I should have restarted the routine, but it was a nice tap in par on a beast of a hole.

This was a magical day on a wonderful course. I'm glad that I was striking the ball good and hope to play there again with some experience under by belt.
