So at our local Golftown yesterday I picked up a demo TaylorMade R9 10.5 stiff with the Fujikura Motore F1 65 shaft!

Paid 100$ for it. In great shape...looks hardly ever hit!

I happen to be lucky enough to have access to a full blown simulator at work, so I went in last night to try it out. Compared to my R5 10.5 regular shaft, I was able to pick up 10-15 yards....however the bigger improvement was the fact that I couldn't get it to do anything but hit the middle of the fairway!! With my R5 if I increase my club speed to 95+ I was pushing/slicing it horribly, this one I was able to get up to 100 mph and and all it would do is start a little right then draw back left to hit the center!!! Beauty looking shots.

I set the club up to NU (neutral upright) which induces a slight draw. Next time I'll try different settings to see the differences

Now I know this is only on a simulator, but it is a back to back or side by side comparison of 2 clubs on a simulator that I play all the time, so I know when I hit it well or not.

I am so stoked for the upcoming season!!! Hopefully I can increase my FIR and lower my scores!

My R5 is going into retirement.

Technology has been juiced up quite a bit since the R5, absolutely...the 10-15 yards doesn't surprise me in the least bit.

The R9 is an awesome stick...I love mine. Wasn't a huge fan of the shaft, but if it works, it works.

Waiting out the 2 feet of snow that just dropped on the course....

Congrats on the new driver.  Sounds like you got a great deal.

I bought the R9 460 10.5 with the R flex Aldila shaft last summer.   I love it!  Best driver I have ever owned.   It spent a lot of time on the launch monitor with a half dozen different drivers (G10, G15, Speedline, Burner, D3, FT9) and the R9 gave me the best numbers.  It was 10-15 yards longer, and more consistantly straight, than all the others.

I couldnt be happier with mine.   I have mine set to N and haven't had a need or desire to try any of the other settings.

What I Play:

Driver: R9 460
4 Wood: G15

Hy: Callaway FT 3Hy

Irons: AP1 4-PW

Wedges: Vokey 52* & 60*, Mizuno MP-T 10 58*

Putter: Newport Studio Select 2.7

Ball: Nike One Vapor

Purchased my R9 TP model this summer. Best driver ever built bar none. Got rid of my Cleveland HiBore to get it. To many toe shots.  This club is longer, straighter and very few off center hits.

Can't figure way you would want to set it outside the nu position. In this position right to left and left to right comes with ease.

Sounds like you may have the "TP" model due to the "F1" designation on the shaft. I picked 1 up that is retail and it just has the "Motore 65" no "F1".

Yeah everything I read says it is a TP model with the F1 shaft. I went to our local dome the other night with it and all I can say is wow! I hit all my shots straight!!!

I love the sound of it as well. I still believe that clubs don't make the golfer, but I'm hoping this one can at least help a little to make me a better golfer!

Plus it has a lower trajectory then my R5 has, which is good for me because I really hit the R5 high in the sky!

I look forward to next season with this driver!

The F1 is the TP model. In a perfect retail/resale world yes, but that's it and it doesn't exist.

As someone who is always tinkering with my equipment, I love not only the adjustability of any of the R9 drivers but also that you can easily swap shafts in and out without having to pull them like you normally would have to do. I currently have an R9 Supertri, and it's going to be hard for something else to takes it's place in my bag.

Hit mine today for the 1st time and I think the R shaft may be soft for me. Had it set up neutral 1-16-1 and had some hooks in it. I didn't mess with the settings, but I have another adapter at the house, just deciding what shaft to put it on. Leaning toward a VS Proto 70S or maybe a Harrison Saga. Won't make up my mind 'til I can get it out on the course and that won't be for a while.
