Short Putters

I have been watching the Kapalua PGA Golf Open this weekend and noticed a few players using short putters, Garrigus and Byrd and Francisco V, although Garrigus definitley has a short putter the other 2 players appear to be sporting shorter putters. Anyone know why some favor the short putter??

It's a feel issue. Many players are uncomfortable with the traditional elbows-bent set-up of a standard 33-35 inch putter. They'd prefer to keep their arms fully extended in front of them.

I just got fitted for a new putter over the holidays. i am now the proud owner of new rife something or other. they added 40 grams of weight and the length is 30"...my wife thinks it looks like a little kids putter!!

bottom line is i have been using a 48" long putter for years and wanted to make a change. my putting is the biggest single reason for not being able to lower on my HC. i give away at least 3 strokes on the greens...it drives me crazy. the short one lines up my eyes over the ball beter and so on.

a putting green is being added onto my patio this spring...i am going to get better if it kills me!!

I use a 33" putter.Whatever is comfortable and works for you is what you should use.
