If you grip down on a Pitching Wedge, would you get the same distance as Sand wedge?

Has Anybody done this before?   What distance did you get?

Depends on a couple of things:

*  Shaft length of each wedge

* Different shaft types in each wedge (kickpoint differs, other things too)

*  Loft difference between clubs

*  PW, SW from same model club?

I have an X20 PW (45.07) and CG14 for remainder, and CG14s fly bit higher and shorter comparatively than X20. My 45* and 50* have same length shaft, but X20 is about 14 yds. longer on a full shot.

Went to a GG scoring clinic recently, and pro recommended testing out all wedge combinations for distances, especially when mixing different make/models of clubs .

Go to the OEM sites for different models, and take a look at the spec sheets for each model of wedges. Lots of variety in standard shaft lengths from from model to model. Numbered irons usually use the "half-inch between clubs" length rule, but wedges often have much less.

Interesting stuff for a rainy day!

Focus, connect and follow through!

My choked PW is not close to my SW.  PW - 115, SW - 80.   I have a gap wedge between the two for 95.  If I choke down on a PW I'm looking at 105-110 depending on how hard the swing is.  The distance between my GW and PW (20 yards) is not a big deal since I choke down on the PW and make a nice short, smooth backswing for the shorter shots of 105- 110.  I can hit the GW 100 if I hit it right to left with a bit of draw for the extra yards.
