I'll hit the range before work some days, after work others, and sometimes both before and after.  I notice a HUGE difference in flexibility and energy between the two.  After work, I feel like I can kill the ball.  My motion, my ball striking, my balance are right where I'd love them to be when I play... unfortunately I usually play first thing in the morning, and none of those factors are anywhere near where they are in the afternoon.   I'll even spend sometime warming up at home (doing the plyo-P90X warmup, doing a bit of yoga, etc..), as well as a very light/small meal even.  I'm up about 90 min before playing so its not that I haven't woken up yet either.   Just today I hit the range on my way into work and my arms were so tight I could barely swing the driver.. but tonight on my way home, I'll go again and probably be hitting the ole-sandtrappers-300-yard-bombs with ease.

Are there any suggestions from bringing that high energy, afternoon game to the morning?

Thanks!

If you have that many issues with flexibility, metabolism/energy etc. in the morning - see a doctor. No joke.

Depending on where you live, there should be a temperature difference many mornings and that may contribue to some of it. A lot of it's probably in your head at this point also.. And, being awake only 90 minutes before play isn't being awake well in advance. I mean, it probably is for Anthony Kim - but not for normal humans unprotected by jeweled belt-buckles.

I'd see a doc. Hit balls before you play and wake up earlier. And, as long as the doc says you're okay and you have a serious warm-up routine, get out of your head; it's cold up there.

Are you normally up as early as you are on the days you play in the early AM?  If not, that can't be helping: your body is not accustomed to being awake, let alone exerting itself physically.
