Just joined up.  Posted this on another site but haven't received a lot of feedback.  Thought I would try you guys out.  Any help is appreciated.

Update on things I have been working on. Not moving off so much with my head, bumping the hips, backswing path. Its coming along ok, still looking to clean up some things. I hope to have most things worked out before summer.

Last week I watched a video from Lynn Blake about hitting vs swinging, and I would have to say hitting makes more sense to me. I always thought I was a swinger but I guess not. I dont know why I never looked into the differences but I was poking around on the interwebz today and hit on some of his stuff. Although I dont know any of the stuff behind TGM I find myself watching more videos and looking for drills by TGM guys. Back to Lynn Blake, I tried to do the move he described with the right arm pushing down and through to straight today and through 50 balls I didnt have my thin miss once. Also didnt feel like I flipped any but my phone doesn't pick up all the frameswhen it is not perfect lighting outside, so its hard to see. I guess the thought on this was to try and straighten my right arm at impact infront of me. Dont have a monitor to see what this might be doing to the numbers but I can tell there is a flatter spot through the hitting area instead of just a bottom.  I spin the ball a ton, probably from the movement I have forward that caused me to get steep.  I also saw a video about the take away that really helped clarify backswing movement.  Although it feels like I'm looping it Furyk style I am actually getting close to ideal plane.  What do you guys think?

seems like you have a pretty wide stance for an iron. that looks like a stance for a driver. and looks like you take the club inside and then you are coming over the top alot. work on getting more of a one plane swing.

i would straighten your posture a bit by standing taller throughout the swing. looks like you are bent over like you are putting. keep you head up, this helps with getting a good shoulder turn. i like to think about pointing your chin at the ball.

you have to hing your wrists alot more on your backswing. this makes for more consistency. half way through you backwing your club shaft is parallel to the ground when it should be perpindicular

Contrary to the previous post, I wouldn't change anything in your swing.  I didn't see any over the top motion.  Your swing is good enough to get down close to scratch, maybe some short game work and putting is all you need.  Everything else looks good.

I've been down to a 1 before, couple years ago when I was playing 4 times a week. My problem has always been that I hit 2 balls OB everyround and come in with a double or worse most the time.  If I could get rid of my really bad misses I can get low again.  I keep track with golf shot and my scoring is good, usually 2 to 3 birdies a round and a few bogeys.  Mix that with two doubles and thats where my handicap gets hurt the worst.

I do think I need to stand up a little more and maybe narrow my stance a little.  Old habits die hard.  In the november video there is an OTT move but it is only to get back on plane.  When I put the most recent swing with lines on it the club stays dead on from what I have always thought was on plane.

I think i just have to groove it now, but I still wonder about the right arm straightening out as a good thought or not?

I think you have a great swing.  Excellent forward hip push to initiate the forward swing--really athletic, strong, dynamic move.

Try straightening the rear leg a bit more on the backswing--I think this will improve your turn and eliminate the smidgen of over the top you have with the arms at the beginning of the forward swing.  You drop the club nicely onto plane, but I think your forward swing will be smoother with the arms when your hip backswing plane is parallel to your shoulder backswing plane.  You could turn your shoulders and hips more vertically in the backswing.

Stance is a smidge wide and the takeaway is perhaps too flat. It's pretty much on plane though, so anything negative would be grasping at straws.

Looks like your chasing it a bit to keep from blasting the ball over your "hitting area".

If you're looking to keep your head more centered, you need to "stand up" more and tilt left just a little bit more than you do now. It's coming along though - you're not translating off the ball as much as before.

This ties into your right knee losing a little more flex and allowing your hips to work on their inclined plane better. UT can help you with that.

Looks pretty good. You're right that are swings are similar except you do a lot of things well that I am still doing poorly. Swing looks very nice!

    • Ok, I'm trying to find a feel to hit a consistent ball flight (irons).  My current predicament.  1. I try to do the arms down stuff better, with the club feeling like it is way behind me more. It's just a cluster of results. Most of the time, I can't get any speed on the swing. If I get my arms down faster, I just throw them out.  2. I focus all my attention on turning better. Pushing off with my left leg and getting my right side through better. On the DTL view, this doesn't produce anywhere close where the hands and club should be. The result is usually ball first contact, lower ball flight, more centered contact.  At this point, I am going with option 2. Stop thinking about what the hands do. Just make a shorter backswing, keep it wide, turn through. Somehow, the club head finds the ball. My focus is so much on just making sure I turn, it's like, "Oh, that contact was better.... Oh, that bell flight looks playable." If not, I will just be practicing my entire summer.       
    • Nope, they spent too much money. They are in over 28 million on the football roster and related NIL compensation at this point. Boosters associated with any Texas college football team has HUGE sway. The AD is between a rock and a hard place. They put a lot of money into Sorsby, at the chance of winning a NC this year. If you move on, you basically wasted a lot.  This is why Ohio State wants 3 QB's they feel can start. That is why the backups the past 5 years at some point transfer. Texas Tech has no backup near the quality of Sorsby. If they move on, they are screwed for 2026. 
    • Maybe there's something I still don't understand about the situation. Wouldn't Texas Tech do itself a favor to move on from Sorsby at this point?      
    • Day 281 6-10 Full swing, fast, getting low point ahead of "towel".  Working on flow during this seems to help.
