I have just purchased a used scotty cameron studio design 1.5.

Its in a pretty sorry state so I am going to try and bring it back to life.

Has anyone polished a putter before? If so how did you do it?

I am maybe going to use a dremel after stripping the paint with acetone.

Then I will do a paintfill and regrip

Does it have what's left of the original gun blue finish?? Stripping the finish or what's left of it and leaving it "naked" except the paintfill will lead to rust unless you take great care with it.

If it's a putter you want to keep and enjoy for years I would suggest sending it in to a putter refinisher. Search WRX or here for info on places that refinish putters.

I have a Studio Design #2. Great putter!!!

Actually I bought the same type putter in December for $85 because it was beat up. I sent it to the Custom Shop a couple of weeks ago to be completely restored (refinished head, new shaft, grip and headcover) at a cost of $145. That's what I suggest you do as I don't think you can polish a studio design. You'll just end up stripping the finish and leaving the bare metal, which will rust very quickly.
