I responded to a Craigslist ad for a used set of JPX-800 Pros, S300 stiff flex shafts and new grips.

The guy that was selling them has since traded them in at a golf shop and the shop is offering to sell them for the same price.

The price is $400, the golf shop guy rated them between a 6 or a 7 out of 10.  He felt they have been played 20 rounds or so.

So, is this a good price given the number of rounds played?

Thanks!

Brad

I'd get them. Just find out why they're a 6-7 out of 10. Considering it's a 2011 club, 20 rounds is not that bad, but ask if the clubs have any major wear and tear, but overall, more than 50% off for a 2011 club and a GREAT one, is a great deal!!

Thanks.  The golf shop guy said they were a 6-7 because of small nicks and bag chatter marks.   He said the grooves are still deep and have plenty of life left in them.   He attributed the wear to the fact that these are forged and thus made of softer metal.

It's pretty common for forged clubs to pick up small knicks and marks from bag chatter, just par for the course really.  If this doesn't bother you, that's a great price for a good set of irons.

Its a fairly decent price

Most forged clubs look tired after a month or so anyway

Unless you use headcovers which are very annoying

And Mizuno doesn't recommend using head covers on their forged irons since they will rust!

I hit these clubs on the range and would have paid $400 for them in a heartbeat. If they suit your game and are setup for you, then game on.

Your scores will tell you whether or not they were worth the cash.
