But I think the layouts are terrfific, particularly the Moorland and Heathland courses.

If you are already set to play at Barefoot, I would suggest you play all of your rounds there. The Fazio, Love and Dye courses are all worth playing. The Dye is under  appreciated IMO.

If you are looking to play elsewhere, I highly recommend the Dunes Club.

Prestwick is also worth playing. It has a wide variety of holes.

A nice set of courses close to Barefoot that has not been mentioned are the two courses at Grande Dunes.

I am also shocked by the negative comments on oyster bay.  I played it and loved it.  Have also played moorland and prestwick.  Enjoyed both of those but both are very challenging.

I just was in Mrytle Beach this past May and I was impressed with True Blue and Barefoot Dye! The two of those courses are a little tough (From the Tips) but they have some very cool holes that are picture worthy! Barefoot Dye have two very long and hard finishing holes 9 & 18 so have fun, I played them at par and felt like I gained 2 strokes!

Played Oyster Bay and Barefoot Love last Wednesday and Thursday. Loved the Love course and enjoyed OB. Both places had fantastic greens, but love was in better shape overall. I would recommend both to anyone headed down. Customer service was top notch at both courses- I know they do it for everyone, but oyster bay even gave me $20 off plus breakfast, lunch, and two beers included in the price. Made me feel all warm and fuzzy.

I've been to MB once, we played 4 courses while there. We played Possum Trot and Wicked Stick, I thought Possum Trot was very nice for what we played to play. Wicked Stick was also fun. What I like about MB was that most of the courses were fairly inexpensive to play because there were so many. I would love to go back and vacation there again. IMO, the only thing going for MB is the golf, my family and friends didn't care for the beach, ocean or restaurants. Like I said, its been a long time since I last went, so it may be different now.

Living fairly close to MB, I've played quite a few courses in that area.  If you want to play a nice, relaxing round on a nice course, check out Thistle in Sunset Beach, NC.  I had a great time there.  The greens were a little slow compared to most that I played, but it's a nice course with some great scenery and nice wide fairways if you're not the greatest off the tee, it's pretty forgiving.  I also enjoy playing Wild Wing.  TPC is OK, but it's definitely not on my list of "Must Play' places when I go down to Myrtle.

I'm going to play The River Club in a couple weeks, so hopefully I'll have a good review of it as well.

Was in MB last week and played Legends Moorland and World Golf Tour.  Moorland was in fantastic shape and fun to play.  Its P.B. Dye intimidating with deep bunkers, mounds and water.  $64 included golf, cart, breakfast, lunch and 2 drink coupons.  Pace of play was terrible, as we had to wait 45 mins making the turn and it was a 5 hour round.

World Golf Tour's greens were in terrible shape and not worth the $79-$115 greens fee they charge.  The rest of the course was in decent shape, but its frustrating to play on greens where you have no chance at making a putt!

    • does anybody still use a 7 wood? if not what do you use instead>
    • Day (2 May 24) - somehow I missed posting both Tues and Weds practice sessions - so the streak ends and a new one begins…. Focus today was on ball first contact using the Divot Board for reference.   Worked with 7i, 9i and GW hitting hard foam balls.  Started hap hazardly and then settled back into my pre-shot setup.  Much more consistent in the latter.
    • So, Newey is out at Red Bull. Where does he go in a year? Is Max still with RBR in 2026? Hmmmm.
    • August 2010 Woodfin Ridge 18th hole Playing in a large tournament with a slew of friends and the last day was two man best ball. The 18th, when it was bent grass, was very fast due to a steep slope on the right side. I had seen many people over the years putt off the green from above the hole. I hit a great drive and 3W to 30’ left of the hole. With everyone watching my partner hit it way too fast and never high enough and his ball rolled all the way to the bottom of the green.  I hit mine much higher and the ball came to rest about 20” above the hole. Then it slowly started trickling towards the hole for a walkoff eagle! Nobody said anything except my partner who was yelling pretty loudly. I looked at the crowd and told them it was okay to clap because it was a great putt, and they gave me a bunch of polite golf claps and brought me a beer!
