I haven't been hitting the ball very consistently. I bought some impact tape to get an idea whats going on, almost every ball is off the toe. Most of my misses are straight pulls with a few push fades. my first attempt was to move closer and stand more over the ball. I moved closer with the ball addressed more on the heel side but still hit it off the toe consistently. Then I addressed the ball using the hosel and this actually got me back to the middle of most of my clubs. I know this is a temporary fix. Any ideas whats going on?

sounds to me like you're drifting back from the ball on the downswing. without the aid of a video i must rely on anecdotal evidence on my part. recently, i've been working hard on getting my left hip behind me as soon as i can so that my hips are about 80% facing the target when i make contact with, and this is the key, shoulders square to the ball. when i began my shoulders wanted to open and follow my hips, and hitting blades as i do i was slapping the ball. when i tried to remedy it by strengthening my grip, i hit straight pulls as you are doing. so, i think the key for you is to make sure your shoulders are square to the ball at impact, and make sure you're not swaying left to right or back and forth during the entire swing. to accomplish this, you must keep your head steady and your nose just behind the ball at all times, cause getting the middle of your chest too far ahead of the ball can make you hit slices as well as this is your center of gravity and where the swing will bottom out

i believe this will help.
