Craft Farms is in Gulf Shores.  I have never played there, but have heard good things about it.  They have two courses, Cotton Creek and Cypress Bend

As well as Perdido Bay which is in Pensacola FL

+1 for Perdido Bay. It was a little soggy when I played it, but I thought it was a fun course, and reasonably priced.

A course in the area you definitely have to try is Rock Creek, in Fairhope, AL.  Great course.  Public, affordable, and very well maintained. Like Craft Farms, mentioned above, it's owned and managed by Honours Golf... and those folks do it right.

If you enjoy an out-of-the-way course that's not so "private club-like", try Soldiers Creek, in Elberta.  It's owned by a member of the Woerner Turf family, and even though golf's downturn has caused them to cut staff a bit, it's still a fun track.  The greens are very good, the fairways are fine, but if you stray off the fairways, you'll see the flaws in the maintenance caused by the staff cutbacks.

I second that, Rock Creek is a great course.

Ok so change of plans and we are now going to Destin for vacation instead of Gulf Shores. Any suggestions on courses in Destin?

  • 1 month later...

Starting to plan a golf trip to Destin or Gulf Shores this summer and am looking for some advice. Will be taking the girlfriend so somewhere on the beach or close to it would be ideal. Any ideas?
