hey guys

Lately I have been absolutely hitting the ball to the moon. The wierd thing is I am not losing distance. Im guessing it is a swing flaw but that is a seperate issue. I have been looking into new irons so I was wondering if there are certain shafts that will reduce the height on some of these shots. It usually isnt a problem but im in CT right now playing at this course right on the water so there is daily 20+ winds going on. Just wondering if anyone else hits it really high and if there was anything to do about it and if different shafts would help.

thanks for any help

Hey Skates, in my experience it can be the shaft (go to a golf store and talk to one of the staff about it) or it could be your swing. One suggestion would be to check your ball position. If it is too far forward in your stance then that might be causing you to hit it really high as well.

i have the same issue. im curretnly using project x shafts. im goin to try out KBS as i hear that they're supposed to produce a more penetrating ball flight

KBS more penetrating flight? nah. you'd be better off with a DG s300 if your trying want lower penetrating flight. btw KBS shafts play very soft to flex, I tried a set of KBS stiff's Soft stepped once and they were way too soft. They flew much higher than the s300's

Could be a swing flaw. I used to have a severe problem with kinda casting the club. My right hand would take over right before impact and I would hit the ball clean, however, it would be coming on an upward swing so i basically was adding 10-15degrees on all of my clubs.

I have had and probably still do have a higher ball flight than normal, but what I've been able to do in the windier conditions is put the ball slightly back in my stance and swing more down on it (less scoop).  The ball will fly lower and lose 5-10 yards which is fine.

I'm going with tsdnorton on this. When I start hitting it high like that it's because a) I'm casting the club and flipping my wrists at impact, b) I'm getting stuck on my back foot or c) all of the above. If your problem is being caused by a swing flaw (which is very likely) changing your equipment is not going to fix the problem. At best it will mask the symptoms until the flaw gets bad enough that you have no choice but to fix it. You could probably save yourself a great deal of money and anxiety by having a pro take a look at your swing.

Thanks for the help guys, was just weird to start hitting it so high but not really lose any distance. I will have to go get a lesson and see if it is a swing problem. In all reallity i think i just want a reason to go out and buy some mp 53s or 58s
