Odyssey standard size putter grip. Can it be made into a mid-size putter grip?

The title is the question. Can a standard putter grip be made into a mid size grip with added tape under the grip or something else?

It can be, but it's difficult. I just did it with a Scotty Cameron grip, but had to use 3 wraps of tape. The trouble comes when you're trying to put the grip on.

My uncle did this exact thing with a club he got for free. He just added extra tape however it was a lot more complex than just throwing on some tape. He used calipers to measure exactly how much tape to add and where until he got it out the size the grip is supposed to go on. He also used some sort of special tape that was exactly 1/64th of an inch thick.

Poor man's solution i used: i've added tennis grip tape to the outside of my putter's grip--made it a tad thicker.  Really like the feel. However, when I tried using two rolls to make it even thicker though, the grip felt a little too spongy and I think it worsened my distance control.

Plus, if you get sick of it or want to sell your putter, you can take the tennis grip right off, and voila, you're back to your original grip.
