Tip Trimming for Stiffness

Is it a standard rule that trimming the tip of a shaft will make it stiffer?  I have a 2010 Burner Superfast with a Matrix Ozik 4.8 regular shaft.  I like the club but shaft is too whippy, and I was thinking about trimming the tip to make it more a stiff shaft.  Is the only difference between the R and S version of the Matrix how they trim the tip or are they two completely different shafts?

Tipping the shaft will play it a bit stiffer, but I don't have the exact numbers. Normally, tipping will move the bend point up the shaft though, lowering your trajectory.  I have a SF1.0 5w that came with that shaft.  I ended up pulling it and dropping in a speeder I had collecting dust.

Vlad -- Like the above poster, I don't have exact numbers but consider this in general.  Cutting from the top increases control.  Cutting from the tip increases stiffness.

I talked to Matrix customer service today and for this shaft, trimming the tip 1/2" will take it from regular to firm and trimming 3/4" will take it from regular to stiff.
