I'm just currious as to what everyones goals are with their golf games? Weather it be to be a better putter, longer hitter... whatever.

Personally I want to drop the last 2 strokes off my handicap and then for the experience, try to Monday qualify for a Nationwide tour event.

Hey BritBoy,

I would love to become a scratch golfer. That is by far the ultimate dream. I am starting to realize, however, that this may not be in my immediate future as I don't have the time to devote to the game as I would need to in order to get to that level of play.

In the meantime I would really like to improve my putting. If I were able to do that, I should bring my index down two or three points. It seems that I leave about 3-4 shots on the course with that darn flat stick!

Great topic!!

I need to work on my iron game, I have brought my hcp down since I started working on my putting. Everything from 120 and out to 150 I have a real problem with. The 110 and in I can handle, but I really need to work on my iron play..

My goal right now is to regularly break 100. I've done it several times, but I can still easily goof up into the 110-115 range. I'm also looking to get some exercise out on the course and maybe lose 100lbs. or so. I might need to get a heavier bag. ;^)

My ultimate goal is to become better then scratch and become a teaching professinal or compete on some tour..whether it be a mini tour, or the pga.

My goal for the upcoming season is to lower my handicap from a 26 to a 12, it will be hard but since I can play and practice all summer long I should be able to do it.

And I'm going to try and do it by getting out everday and working on the practice range and range for a total of 10-20 hours a week. I'd also like to get some lessons. And play about 5 times a week. I am a junior golfer so I have my summers off which is wonderful.

You don't have to be a scratch handicap to be a teacher. knowing how to hit the shots and fix swings of others is the goal of a teacher. some can play others can teach few can do both. If all the pros teachers could do what they teach don't you think they would be on tour making a ton of cash?

I want to get my game back. I am a 6 handicap playing to about a 12 right now. I have been working hard to try and get my game back to where it was a couple of months ago. It finally feels like it is coming back. I am not far from playing to my handicap again...

I'd like to get to single digit hcap on my home course (currently 12) by summer time, mostly by improving my putting game...as I figure I probably leave 1-2 strokes per round on the greens.

Once I get to that, I'm going to start playing occasionally from the back tees to get more course time with my longer irons...then enter a club championship for the first time.

I'd like to get my handicap down below 15 this year. I was a 31 in 2002 and I've been working my way down steadily. I want to be more consistent and shoot in the 80's regularly. I need to play smarter and avoid blow-up holes and really dumb mistakes. I've got to give up on the shot-of-a-lifetime recoveries, chip out onto the fairway, and move on. Sounds easy enough, right?

My goal for this year is to get my index down into the teens.

I'd like to have it in single digits in the next five years. I see the potential in my game, but I need to start stringing good shots together. I finally got fitted for clubs this year, which was a big step in my plan.

Now if the damn snow would melt so I can go practice... :\

    • MI, The Final Reckoning: Birdie. Could have been overall par except for the submarine and the plane sequences. Dood pushes some serious human limits as has become bit of a norm for him in the MI (..and Top Gun 2) movies. I'm glad he isn't dead. Seriously.
    • That suprises me,nevertheless you didnt touch on seve's swing and I like that..
    • I don't think this was a last man standing win. The drive on 17 has gotta be an all-timer at a US Open though. Talk about hitting it on the screws at a peak moment! And then doesn't blink on the big 18th either. 100% deserved win.    I was pulling hard for Adam and Viktor though. I hope Viktor can put it together and get one across the field soon. I do think the denial of drop at 15 got in Burn's head.  The cabbage seemed like it was singularly most defining aspect of the championship (as expected..). I hate to revel in the misfortunes of the cabbage victims but it was so entertaining. Surviving it was like surviving hell week. Cut the bombers down to size. I tried so hard to not laugh at this..🤣. But here's one for the short stubby guys with a total dad-bod (wink-wink)!
    • I think Freddie's swing kind of stinks.
    • I searched the forum but found no topics like this but feel free to delete it moderators if it's been done recently Seve ballesteros is by far my most favourite swing, swashbuckling and just a sight to behold,Steve elkington and Freddie couples also have great swings..
