Hello all I am a beginner who is just getting into golf and i was perusing the internet and auction sites and looking for a set of irons. I know there are different types of irons like cavity, hybrid and blade, however one thing i have noticed is that even between cavity irons there is a big difference in price. Some cavity irons can come up to 400£/660$ and some for 150$... Why? Is it just a brand thing? Thanks

Why is there a price discrepancy for anything we buy? Prodiction costs, quality, brand name, what the market will bear, etc.  There's no guarantee that the highest price irons are the best, but I be willing to wager that the least expensive ones are not the best.

Yeah I think the best way to go would be a good set of brand name irons, a few years old, on eBay. That way you're getting equipment you can trust for a good price.

R&D;, Customer service, custom options, quality of materials and construction, reputation and goodwill, like any product affect price. If you operate in the rarefied air of the very best or at least are a devotee who knows the difference then small details matter. For example forged clubs are more expensive to make, the benefits are a subtle difference in feel and certain esthetic features. Most of us do not drive Aston Martins, a small number may drive Corvettes or Mustangs, most can't exceed the limits of their mainstream cars. Golf is no different equipment is produced on a spectrum.

1W Cleveland LauncherComp 10.5, 3W Touredge Exotics 15 deg.,FY Wilson 19.5 degree
4 and 5H, 6I-GW Callaway Razr, SW, LW Cleveland Cg-14, Putter Taylor Made Suzuka, Ball, Srixon XV Yellow

    • Day 141 12-31 Reconnecting arm and club face work. Making sure left wrist is arched only on the downswing. Not doing full swings, im pausing at the top and will do a few rehearsals.  Hit a few real balls  after, and had some curve way left.
    • That was a good watch. When I started working on pelvis in the backswing. I thought, this sounds contradictory to those leg straightening threads on the site. Erik has already done a correction. Then the last lesson we went more down the route of feeling the right knee gains flex. It doesn’t, but the feeling keeps my knee position in a good range. Also, I just realized how much extra work my right hip needed to do to stabilize the body with the proper weight shift. Those glute and hip stabilizers got worked. 🤣 I wish this evolution in the golf instruction happened 20 years ago! 😭
    • I've been Playing Golf for: 40 yrs My current handicap index or average score is: 4.0 factor My typical ball flight is: Straight however sometimes slight draw. The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: squirt to the right due to to much arm not enough turn.
