Back to the Hot List - Does anyone else hate the little graphics they use to designate the 3 levels of excellent, good, and very good? Would it not be much easier on readers if they just used 1 - 9?

I completely agree with both of you, the club test last year was way more inciteful because they had a variety of handicaps test each club and comment on them. This hotlist doesn't make me want to go out and buy a club, 'buzz' being one of the dumbest categories to rate a club on. The whole system is just one big mess. Boo golf digest, boo.

I felt the Hot List was a joke. More marketing hype than anything else. Also, some of the comments were just plain dumb. For the the Scott Cameron Studio (full disclaimer, I own one) the Not reason was "Grip is not for those with man hands." This was the best Hot vs. Not reason they could come up with?

I thought the Hot Lists only real value was to give you a primer on what new clubs fell into which categories and price ranges. Beyond that unless you agreed with their criteria and weighting it was pretty shallow. I particularly felt the Buzz factor and technology portions were overstated. I felt the performance and and value portions were understated. To me those are the most important. The buzz and technology factors inflate small differences so that you can justify that golf lust purchase you can't rationally justify. I would love to see a best bang for the buck comparison. I do think they are honestly trying, but being very carefull not to bite the hands that feed them.

You gotta wonder how much the equipment companies get involved in this because I don't agree with any of them except the Pro V 1. How come the Taylor Made R7 Super Quad made it into the mix and yet the Mizuno MP-67 didn't. I think the 67 is way above the 60 in playability and looks.

Sound and feel are everything in a driver to me and the sound that comes off the Callaway FT-5 is like a thud. There also seems to be no feedback off the clubface.

Was the Taylor Made RAC TP discontinued??? Its not in here and I think its better than the R7 TP.

High handicappers probably get more use out of this than low.
