After warming up a bit, my fitter asked some questions about my game. I usually go slightly right with a lot of toe hits.

He fixed me up with a test 6 iron and measured my swing speed, 72,71,73.  As I expected, the Mizuno program said I needed

regular flex and a lighter shaft. It recommended graphite. I wasn't opposed to that, but it was more $$$ than I wanted to spend.

Next we discussed clubs. I said I was interested in TM Burner 2.0 if they would work for me. He looked at the specs and said it would be a good fit. He fixed up a demo #6 Burner 2.0 graphite iron for me to hit. My swing speed increased 4 mph across the board and I didn't have a single toe hit. He said that's because TM's are 1/2" longer than most others and my Calli's had been too short for me, not to mention too stiff and too heavy. There's almost 1.0* difference in the lie angles too.

Now the lie board.  Unbelievable!  Standard lie was dead on. See pic if I posted it correctly. (edit to add....guess I didn't do it right)

Now the grip. Measured my hands and the chart says medium, normal, average.

So my fitting showed that I'm a standard kind of guy. No lie adjustment, no length change, no grip change. It looks like I should use the Burner Graphite out of the box. Other brands might have worked well too, but most would have needed some work. A new set of TM Burner 2.0 Graphite are on order. When they arrive, we're going to run through them checking everything again and get me an approximate distance/gap chart.

I'd never hit graphite before today. I think I'm in love. I wasn't swinging hard, just a relaxed full swing, but it felt like I was knocking the hell out of it.

Although I learned that I could have just bought them and done OK, I'm really happy to know that they will fit me correctly. Without the fitting, I'd never know. And the fitting was free with club purchase.

Thanks to all who patiently replied to my other threads. I learned a lot and pretty much was able to guess what my results would be.

Tell her that properly fit clubs are necessary to ensure that you are swinging properly and are essential to be able to play golf without compensations in your swing causing injury.  And that will help make sure you lead a long and productive life.     And golf gives you much internal peace and happiness.   And that internal peace makes you a better man.    Which makes you a better husband.    And clearly only $700 is a trivial amount of money invested in the long run towards a healthy, long living, peaceful, better husband.    And if she doesn't think so, then you are beginning to question her trust and interest in the marriage.

And if for some reason that doesn't work (but I can't imagine why it wouldn't ), be prepared to invest another $700 in jewelry or whatever makes her happy to keep the relationship in balance.......

Tell her the clubs are cheaper than a divorce lol

To the OP, if you're looking for a standard loft/lie R graphite set, did you consider the Burner 1.0?

Seems to me this could have been a great way to save $400.

Since I figure this will be my last set to buy for many years, I decided to go with the latest.  Didn't you read what TM said about how much better the 2.0 is??  Well, until the 3.0 comes out        anyway!

Also this just in:   I called TM to get the bounce specs yesterday. They said that info isn't generally given out.

I said..... "WTF, you expect me to spend $900 on your product when you won't give me the specs?"

They said...."hold on.......PW=7*, AW=7*, SW=11*, LW=12*"

I said...."Thank you very much."

Golf Galaxy.  The pro here in San Antonio is really good. My boss is a 4 hcp. and has been using this pro for many years, even before he was at GG.

    • Day 23: weird day, and only had a little bit of time. Just did mirror work again, working on where the elbow is in the downswing
    • I flipped over to this tonight and thoroughly enjoyed it. Anyone else watch? I picked it up during the golf relay event, but seeing these pros out having fun in alternative events was refreshing and entertaining. I’m sure it will be on in reruns in the next week or so, so I won’t spoil the outcome. Im curious what others thought of it. I’m recording it’s later airing to see the beginning.
    • Day 443 - 2025-12-17 Made a few swings in testing some things out at another academy. Might pop up on someone else's podcast in a few weeks.
    • Day 37 (17 Dec 25) - nine hole round with my good friend.  We got paired up with a couple of the men’s group regulars as part of their shootout.  Started off with a wonderful quad bogie and then a dbl on three to be six over thru three holes.  Game went 180° over the next five as I shot one under (including a chip in birdie on hole six and four up and down 1 putt pars) for a net finish of five over. What could have been a really tough nine became a solid finish due to staying in the moment and not checking out.  Great day in course management and keeping perspective .
    • Day 127 12-17 Backswing and flow practice. Took advantage of the 60 degeee weather(it was 20 degrees Sunday)
