I was ordering some new shoes when I encountered a set of used Callaway RazrX irons posted on Ebay.  I love these irons and would consider eventually replacing my current irons with these.  Anyway, here's the description....

Quote:
This auction is for a very, very slightly used set of Callaway Razr X irons.  This set is 4-pw (7 clubs).  This set has the stock steel shaft in uniflex shaft.  This is new except the 4 iron was hit one time.  The condition rating of this set is 9.99/10.  They are +1 length and 2* up in lie.  This is guaranteed to be an authentic callaway iron set. Shipping is $14.99 via ups ground to the lower 48 states.

Then I noticed that there are three additional sets with the exact same description.  The auctions end at about 2 day intervals.  The vendor seems well established with a good feedback score.  When I asked the vendor if it there were four identical sets 2* up and +1 inch where only the 4 iron was hit, the vendor replied that I was correct.

It's certainly not impossible but it seems odd to have so many non-standard setups with the exact same "wear."  Any thoughts?

That seems like a pretty fishy scenario.  Unfortunately, feedback can be inflated and synthesized in some cases.  Read the feedback comments and see if it looks like feedback was provided for legit and specific items.

What is the price?  Can you post the listing?

I'm trying to avoid naming a specific vendor because so far everything appears legitimate.  I don't want any of my posts to be perceived negatively when (in fact) a vendor is on the up-and-up.  Too much of that happens on the Internet.

The first set was auctioned off around $428 which seems reasonable for a lightly used set with significant deviations from standard (2 deg up and +1 inch).

I checked toolhaus.org and everything seemed OK.  No accusations of fake clubs that I could see in the neutral or negative evaluations.

Thanks for the suggestions.

You could always request serial numbers to have run by Callaway.  Also, pay attention to details of the shaft type and hosel.  I find those are the items that are most noticeably fake on knock-off sets (and I have experience with buying fakes).
