Hello folks,

In my attempt to improve my golf game I have stumbled across this website.  I have poked around a bit and I’m very impressed with the site so I have decided to register and give it a shot.  My Name is Bo, I’m 28 years old and live in Canada.  I have been golfing for about 16 years now, but over the last 5 years I really got away from the game.  I have just recommitted myself to Golf this year and am currently going through the frustration that Golf will give you when you try to return to it after a lengthy absence.

My handicap is a 14 currently, but I am regularly shooting high 80’s to low 90’s with the odd mid 80 round here and there.  My current goal with the game is to get it to a single digit, and to be breaking 80 consistently.  But I have a long road ahead of me before I will be able to reach that.  I signed up for lessons this year, but ended up with what I consider to be a fairly poor instructor and unfortunately have been learning more from what I have been researching online then I have my instructor.  Which is what brings me here, on the search to find like minded people, that will be able to help me on reaching my goal and perhaps I will be able to help some of you as well.

Thank you for your time and for reading my little blurb here, also thank you to the hosts of this Sandtrap site for creating this community for us golfers!

Welcome.

Unfortunately I believe there are more poor instructors than good or great ones, and I'm glad that you recognized this and think that you'll do well on your own. Just don't take any and every tip you read - really consider it, and invest in a decent high-speed camera (~$200) if you're serious about learning on your own.

But again, welcome.

Thanks for the welcome!

It’s an interesting point you make about the high-speed camera.  I wouldn’t mind asking you to expand on it & how you use yours to help your game?  Beyond the obvious (slow your swing down to see what you are doing wrong) what are some specific things you have learned from having this type of camera that has really helped your game?

On a side note – Just thought I’d share a break through I had last night.  I have been dealing with a wicked slice, absolutely terrible and it was killing my game.  I went to the range and adjusted my grip, I moved my right thumb to the left on the club (I’m a lefty) and my slice is gone.  It was such and awesome feeling!
