Hey all, new to the forums(see my intro thread in the welcome section), but not to golf....

I've always, always, always had trouble hitting my driver and fairway woods straight...until yesterday. After nearly two decades of failed attempts at correction, it seemingly happened in one simple change in thought process before beginning my swing. I adjusted my swing thought to focus only on staying off my toes during my down swing....and I'll be damned...it worked!

Instantly after that simple adjustment I began hitting not only my driver and woods, but irons as well, longer and straighter than ever before. The ball's flight path was beautiful...and I couldn't help but laugh at myself...

Long story short, I guess persistence pays off

Putter: An old Ram Laser...lol...but it works

I don't mean to rain on your parade, but just so you don't get too excited - I've often hit upon swing thoughts or keys that worked for a range session or a round or two, then just as suddenly stopped working completely. Don't get discouraged if that happens. It's a process.

Ain't that the truth. Find something, lose it. Find it again, lose it again. The best I hope for, personally, is minute, incremental progress in each cycle - so that the net progression is in the direction of less suckage.

Anyway OP, enjoy it while you got it. Isn't it a great feeling when you're just smoking everything?

Lol...to those who said it comes and goes, well of course it does, that's part of the game. I suppose the point I was trying to convey is that persistence is key...that is all.

    • Thanks everyone. I’ll likely play this hole a few times over the summer and will report back.    A sick little one plus Mother’s Day may have changed the likelihood that I’ll get to test the approach this weekend though.
    • Yes, our HCP #1 is a longer par 5 (No.3). It's a big wide open hole but has large fairway bunkers that come into play on at least two of the first three shots for shorter hitters. So it's long and treacherous enough (due to bunkers) for shorter or slightly crooked hitters. Par is a great score. For long and straightish hitters (typically lower caps) the bunkers are not in play on either shots. It's simply a high percentage birdie hole for them.

    • Day 9 (10 May 24) - Played 18 with a good friend and one of his coworkers.  Was not a solid scoring round, but lots of opportunites for course management. Had a blast as we truly "got our money's worth" as my friend jokingly said.  Had some solid shots and finished the round with a solid birdie on 17 (the only really good hole of the day).
    • I always wonder when people say they "tried" a golf swing out. I thought I had a topic on it, but when I searched DuckDuckGo for "trying" a golf swing or method limited to this site… "trying"+a+golf+swing+or+method+site:thesandtrap.com at DuckDuckGo DuckDuckGo. Privacy, Simplified. This very topic was the first search result. 🤣
