A question on the professional 59's...

I've asked this question on the PGA TOUR web site ("sorry, we don't have that information."), and I've asked Tom Meeks, Larry Startzel, and quite a few other guys who've been involved with the tour for a long time, and nobody can come up with the answer. I'm really curious about this.

How many of the professional 59's were shot while playing "lift, clean, and place"?

Al Geiberger, Chip Beck, David Duval, Annika Sorenstam. I keep thinking I'm missing one more. Am I?

I think Geiberger's was under lift, clean, and place, and I think Annika's wasn't, but I'm not sure.

Any help? Links to the info online?

Jason Gore did it too now that I think about it and there was one other guy on the Nationwide tour that I am pretty sure did it. I can picture him, mustache and glasses. Let me see if I can find it.

Sam Snead shot 59 at the par-70 Greenbrier in the Sam Snead Festival in 1959.

Don't forget - Jason Gore shot 59 on the Nationwide Tour too. Here is some more info for you to find out. How many of the 59's came on non par 72 courses?

I know this was not on the PGA tour but you can't forget about Moe! As far as lift, clean, place not sure if any of his 3 59's were under those rules...

Moe Norman burst onto the golf scene by dominating the amateur circuit in his native Canada in the 1950s and '60s. He would go on to set 33 course records, win 13 Canadian Tour events, play for Canada in the World Cup in 1971, shoot 59 three times and record 17 holes-in-one.

Shigeki Maruyama shot a 58 in US Open Qualifying within the last few years. The more you dig, the more you find!

You may be able to contact the courses they shot the 59's at and ask them if they were under the Lift and clean rule the day they posted their 59's.
