4 of us played at the Peninsula state golf course (http://www.peninsulagolf.org/) and LOVED IT... the par 3s on this course is sooo fun ( 8 and 17 being my favorite).

We had a beginner with us so it took us a little over 4 hours to finish.

Im not a long hitter my driver goes 200 (longer when I actually get it straight), I like playing from the white tees... but we were playing hole 7 a very short par 4 (292)... I hit driver and it went a little over 200, this single lady in a cart catches up to us and ask if she can play through so we let her... she goes over to the blue tees(298yds)... crushes her drive about 20 yards from the green, made us all look like bitches, hits her 2nd shot close and finishes her birdie (needless to say, I did not get birdie).

I putted great today... lots of 2 putts only a few 3 putts

I had a very difficult time hitting shots today, I couldnt get into a good athletic position or move my legs well, because my thighs were soo sore from paintball all day yesterday (this also added to our slow play, since all 4 of us had trouble moving around the uphills and downhills of the course to get to our balls).  So I get home and see this story on ESPN about the vietnam vet who has no legs and is a under 10 handiecap and shot a +3 at the old course

I love golf :)

I like this course a lot. Always well maintained. Must have been empty if they let singles out. We never have four when we play, but the starter always sends out foursomes.

Last summer, my buddy's head was so messed up that he  pulled out his driver on 17. His ball was sailing over the trees at the back of that par 3 when last seen. It does have some quirky holes, like you have to wait for the cars to clear the road on 18, or a slice might kill someone. At least the carts have enough power to go up the hills w/o the passenger having to push, unlike some of the competing courses up there.

It was pretty late... we were one of the last 3 or 4 groups to play I believe... our Tee time was at 5:45 but we teed off at approx 5pm.

Yeah, on 17.. it says 180 yards and it looks sooo far away, one person in our group hit a 7 iron and over shot the green into the woods.  I judged and decided to hit my 140 yd club ... it was the right club but I didnt compensate for my fade, so it was right of the green.

I will definitely try to get back up there next year... too long of a trip to make it a regular thing.

Is there any good food around there?  We went to this place near fish creek (I believe thats the name of the town) and it was a place with regular food trying to be upscale...

Have you gone to the other course up there... I think its called Alpine golf course in egg harbor?

Played it many years ago and it was cash only. I had no idea. My wife dropped my very young son and me off and planned to come back in 5 hours. No cell service in that area back then. No ATM. And I did not carry a checkbook. When I went to pay, they told me cash only. That is when I discovered that my wife had taken most of my cash to spend the day with our daughter. I did not have cash enough for a cart. I could afford my greens fees, the junior rate greens fees, and one push cart for the boy with enough cash for a hot dog and a coke for the boy at the turn. Thankfully it was an affordable course. It was about 99 degrees that day. I was in good shape, but it was murder. When we finished, my wife and daughter commented on the figure far down the 18th hole and wondered if he was OK. That was me dragging myself in.

One of the more memorable rounds I've played. The cliff par 3 was the first green my son every hit in regulation. I was short. He loved that.
