Imagine my surprise:
yesterday while search for a playing partner's ball, I found a FuZZ golf ball. Marked on the equator (or whatever the correct terminology is) WICKED LONG. Marked on the equator 180-degrees around the ball WICKED SOFT. And, oh by the way, it looks like it's been hit just once.

Imagine my surprise:
Upon checking the list of conforming golf balls at http://www.usga.org/equipment/confor...gball_list.pdf --this FuZZ golf ball is listed as being a conforming golf ball!

Any of you Sand Trappers know of any other really obscure ball brands that conform to USGA standards? Any of you Sand Trappers willing to admit to playing a FuZZ golf ball?

My Brother-in-law picked up a pack of those at K-mart and tried playing with them...can't remember the outcome, but I don't think he bought any more.

I actually have a box of these, for when I'm losing lots of balls...

They're not as bad as you'd think for the price.. 18 balls for like $10. 432 dimples like the Nike mojo.. softer than some of the cheap rocks out there.

I think they're made by King Par, but I'm not sure..

My buddy had a couple sleeves last season. He sucks so I don't know how the ball plays. The packaging was kind of cool. Hey...I bought the Nike Juice because it said Ginormous on it. I ended up liking the ball a lot.

Imagine my surprise:

I just checked the USGA web site and the Fuzz is not listed as a conforming ball.

My friend has a ball called a Dimplet. It has 1070 dimples. I have no idea how it plays.

I picked up an 18 pack of the Fuzz recently. The package talked a big game and lets face it...they were cheap. I'm a 15 handicap so probably not the best judge of balls or advise but I have to say...it was one of my better rounds. Great ball for the price.

Got a sleeve as a gag gift last summer, and just love these cheap, soft & long balls.  Did I mention cheap?  18-pack goes about 12 bucks here.  I converted from Srixon AD333 or Trispeed because losing one in the pond is pretty affordable! Not overly durable if you swing a hot iron, but love the graphic.  The little smiley face makes a great focus-point on the drive.

i absolutely use them. in fact they have been disappearing off shelves so ive been stock piling. i play 5 days a week with a group of 20 guys. i used to play what ever i found on the course. i wouldnt look at the make unless i felt the performance was good or bad. the only makes that stood out were the ones i lost distance on. usually cheap topflites, wilsons, i found a fuzz, put it into play and from the first shot gained 15 yards. i use the eyes to help me keep head down . i concentrate on them thru the swing. i think it just happens to be the perfect ball for the 100mph swing speed.

I had similar experiences. Found one, liked it, bought more and for my modest abilities it's a very good ball. Usually you'll find Fuzz or Titleist in my bag. The Titleist's are found.

    • While on vacation in Punta Cana a few weeks ago I played with rental clubs, Mizuno Pro 245's with KBS Tour Lite steel shafts. Surprisingly, I was blown away, not only by the distance, trajectory and dispersion I was getting but also about how soft and buttery they felt. It got me thinking.... IT'S TIME FOR NEW IRONS! Just yesterday, at my local Golf Galaxy, I tested them again side by side with the JPX Forged (recommended by the Mizuno rep who happened to be there) which also felt pretty good. Not as buttery soft as the 245's but they did produce slightly better numbers on off-center hits. Also, I haven't played with forged clubs with steel shafts in 10 years thinking I was getting too old and that I needed the lighter weight but these clubs with that shaft felt really, really good. So that's my long and drawn-out intro to my question: Does anyone here at TST play with either of these clubs and if so, what's your opinion?

    • By today’s standards that’s certainly true, but they weren’t having any trouble hitting golf balls in 2005 so I’ve equipped myself with what was among the very best equipment around that time for a very reasonable investment. If I get to the point where I feel like I’ve outgrown that stuff, I’ll reward myself with something more current. But for now I don’t need adjustable loft and lie and modern head shape, just a good quality, proven club with a clean club face. For now I’m going to concentrate on the basics. I know you can get more yardage with newer woods, but I don’t care about distance nearly as much as consistency, and you can’t buy that for any price.
