Uh-Oh, Taylormade R7 irons

Recently bought the Taylormade R7 Draw irons, the guy I bought from just had them reshafted to stiff shafts and new golf pride grips. I am left handed and they looked and felt amazing......until today. I know the draw part of it is supposed to help you not slice, but with my other irons I never slice...NEVER. So I hit the R7's and they go very wide right. Is there a way to stop the draw? I could purposly try to slice so the clubs would do there part. Or is there a way to change your stance to stop the draw?  I tried to google and youtube how to stop drawing, one was to go to an artistic therapist, but all the other ones were teaching you how to draw the ball. Do you think I should just do the exact opposite of how to draw the ball, or what?.......

If you don't slice, "draw bias" irons are going to cause you to hook the ball. [i]The design of the club[/i] is to cause the ball to go straight, given a slice swing. If you start trying to produce a slice, or just plain try to get the irons to go straight, you'll ingrain a slice swing -- and that'll play into your woods too. My suggestion: go back to your old irons. Sell these. If you want new irons, get some that aren't draw bias.

I was afraid you'd say that , I realise that I could start a slice swing, but yeah there goes my woods. I'm probably going to use them for another week or 2 and decide from there.

Give them a little bit of time.  They may not be perfect, but unless your a low-index player they shouldn't be hurting your game too much.  If you're hitting big hooks, make sure you're not flipping through impact.  Even a fade-bias club can hook badly in the hands of a flipper.

I'll typically turn the ball over a bit more with a draw bias club, but it's something that you can compensate for with setup and ball position.  And... it may help instill proper mechanics as you work to keep the face square.

Yeah, I haven't gotten my swing analyzed or anything. I've only gotten comments on how fast I swing and how smooth it is. I notice that I cross my wrists over quite a bit when I swing, which in my case, brings the club face closed and cause it even to draw more, i'll experiment the next time I go to the range.

You dont have to build a slice into your swing to get rid of the draw on a draw bias club. I small change in grip can accomplish this, and if you then grip your woods as you always have and not as you now grip your irons then you should be fine. Id go to the range and hit a bunch with them try to make them work it can take time to get used to new shafts on any set of clubs.

Yeah, going to the range tommorrow, hitting 1-2 buckets and then doing a 3 hole practice loop.
