Gratuity for regripping clubs?

This may be a dumb question, but I was curious if it is customary to tip for having my clubs regripped?

I ordered the grips at the club's pro shop and asked the head pro if he could change them for me - which he happily agreed to do.

I just dont want to insult him either way.

If they charge you to replace the grips I'd say no tip is required.  If you just pay for the grips, then I'd give the guy something for doing you the favor.

I know this is an old topic, but I would say “heck no” on a gratuity.

I literally just re-gripped my clubs last week.  I wanted to support my golf club, so I asked what they would charge.  For a Winn Dri-Tac, it would have been $12 per club.  I told them I put them on myself, but they said the charge was the same whether they put it on, or I did.

I got the grips elsewhere for $7.00 and did it myself.  Mind you, I already had grip tape and solution to use.

I’m guessing they mark the prices up enough to cover their labor charges.

On a side note, I find re-gripping my clubs to be satisfying.  In a weird way, it makes me feel like I am taking care of my clubs.  It’s fairly simple and I don’t even use a vice or an air compressor.    Yeah, it might take me 2 hours to do it by the time I get all the old tape off and clean the shaft, but it’s just soothing to me.

    • We just completed our winter league (Jan 1 - April 30)  Our scoring was simple.  We used the 18 birdies app.  You get 1 point for every member of the league you beat head to head in an 18 hole round (no handicap).  You also get a point for completing the round.  Therefore 4 members play a round- winner of the round gets 4 points, runner-up gets 3, third gets 2, and last gets 1.  Points accumulate throughout the season.  You can play as many times as you want. Our winner accumulated 110 points while second was 102 and third was 97.  We had a total of 16 members in the league.  No issues whatsoever.  All about fun.
    • I had the D-9's a while back, thought the stock Wilson grips were rubbish.  I put Pure grips on them. Pure is now out of business but available on Golfworks.  Currently some colors in stock as of today. PURE Wrap Golf Grips - The GolfWorks PURE Golf's tackiest grip, the Wrap features a perforated wrap design and is ideal for golfers that prefer a slightly softer, more muted feel at impact.
    • If he had to hit over the bunker, I'm guessing he was further from the hole, although "in front of" implies the opposite.  If that's right, that may have been the right spot for penalty relief, a single PS.
