just a pole more than anything else. what are your favorite hybrids?
my rescue tp is ok, nothing special. any others that stand out?

I'm very partial to the Sonartec MD Transition line. Very good hybrids. I hear the Adams Idea hybrids are really good too.

I am partial to the Cobra Baffler. I have the 23 and 26 degree clubs, replacing my 4 and 5 irons. I just ordered a 16 degree Baffler to replace my 3 wood. I've found these clubs to be so very easy to hit from almost any lie. Not that other hybrids out there ( Callawy, TaylorMade, et al ) aren't equally superb, but the combination of the Cobra head and the Aldila NV-HL shaft seems to work best for me.

I switched to the Booby Jones/Jesse Ortiz Hybrid at the very end of last year. It's got a great, traditional look at address and has a pleasant weight. It can be worked both ways, but mis-hits are highly playable. Distance seems to be only average -- I may swap out for an H2 -- but that's not my biggest concern if I can continue to hit it consistently. One thing I love is the keel-or ginty-like sole, which gives me a ton of confidence from the rough. Preferences vary, of course, but I'd definitely recommend the Booby Jones hybrids for consideration & trial if you're in the market.

Ive used a couple of diffrent kinds of hybrids includung the Taylormade Rescue and Nike CPR. I just purchased an Orlimar vt830 and Ive hit better than any other Hybrid Ive had in my bag.I know its not a big name brand but give it a shot i think you'll be suprised

ya i've heard good things about almost all of the above mentioned hybrids. Mine (TM rescue tp) is good off the fairway and superb off the tee onto a tight driving hole; but out of the rough its not exactly magic. my course does not have very bad rough, but i can hit out with a 4 iron just about as well as i can with my hybrid. ive seen commericals for the bobby jones and it looks like a nice club...

Agree with you asianpsuation. Currently using TM Rescue Dual TP and is really good off the fairway and tee. However, in the rough the ball seemed to launch more upwards than forward. I also hear that Adams Pro is good but it is more difficult (shaft and smaller head) compared to TM. Tried Cobra Baffler but didn't really like the feel or the sound. It flies off far though. Would maybe give Baffler Pro a try... Callaway X is nice and forgiving but I didn't like the closed face.

Last season I played Nickent, Bobby Jones, Mizuno Fli-Hi, and, finally, Adams Idea Pro hybrids with the Aldila NV Proto "Blue By You" shaft. As much as I liked the Bobby Jones old school profile (and I did, a lot), the Adams hybrids are a fixture in my bag.

I have the 2 and 3 iron. I'm adding the 4 iron as soon as I can. While less like the "cloven hoof" my pro called the Nickents, the Adams aren't as beautiful as the Bobby Jones. But they work. And how.

Two days ago I played with a couple other guys I didn't know. We came to the last hole and from the left rough I hit the 2 iron about 190 to about 20 feet from the pin. One of my playing companions watched me hit the shot and commented on the sound and tractory. I gave him the club, threw down a ball and let him hit it from the (dormant) rough. And he did to about 15 feet.

No club is right for everyone. But if you're looking for a hybrid you owe it to yourself to demo these. Adams Idea Pro Hybrids. Awesome.

I've played Adams Idea, Callaway X, Ping G5 hybrids with stock shafts. I think they all exellent clubs, but with the Adams being the best of the 3.

But the BEST hybrid I've played is the SMT Advocet. I shafted mine with a GS75 s200, wich is too whippy for my taste. Even so, this club is absolutly awsome. Unbelievable distance (mostly carry) and playability, very workable. With one single 23 deg hybrid has taken the place of my 5 wood, 3~5 irons. And by gripping to the lowest part of the grip with a smooth 1/2 swing I have a consistant Mid/low trajectory shot to 150yards, which I used to use a 6 or 7 iron. Full shots will fly 200+ yards carry off the tee, 185 carry off the deck. I highly recommend this club. I have taken +/- 5 strokes off my score since adding this club to my bag.

FOOOORE!!!

I really like my heavenwood hybrid by callaway. I got it when they first came out and they just seem to hit the ball pure everytime. The only problem is that i can't decide between my titleist persimmon 5 wood or my callaway heaven wood 3h

I carry the TaylorMade Rescue Mid, but I'll probably be replacing it soon. No idea what direction I'll be going, but as others have said, I've heard great things about the Adams clubs, as well as the Nickent. One of the local pros had great things to say about the Nike Slingshot Tour hybrid.

The only hybrid I've played is the 14* Callaway FT that's currently in my bag. I really like it (looks good at address, sounds good, feels good at contact) off the tee when there's wind in my face as I have an easier time keeping the trajectory low than I do with the driver.

I've also heard very good things about the Sonartec hybrids.

What's in the bag?

My top pick is Adam's Idea Pro hybrid. Love the way it looks at address, minimal offset, and the stock shaft is a winner. If my swing is off they are scud-missile launchers: They go a long way, but you aren't sure where they'll land. When my swing is on, tee balls are long and strait. Love that club.

Another good one is Nickent's 3DX Ironwood. Very solid. More spring-like face than the Adams. Hits it a long way. Good stock shaft that produces higher flight than the Adams. If Nickent's new hybrid offering is anything like the 3DX it's a winner too.

Hybrids are awesome.

CG...I have the Halo and really rely on them to keep me in play...what drawbacks do you have about them? It did take me awhile to get used to look, but I really like the impact sound and feel off the club face.

As far as the others you mentioned, I have only heard good things about the Baffler and TM rescue.

I do like the halo, certainly enough to keep it in the bag (I considered switching). The look took a little time but honestly isn't that much of a factor, especially with the dark finish. I tend to draw the ball a little more with it and it seems a touch heavy. Perhaps it's the shaft and as far as the weight goes I haven't ever played with any other hybrids for any length of time so I don't have much to compare it to. It is a solid stick, something that is becoming more dependable for me. I added this in the middle of last summer and as I said it was my first hybrid so I still have to get used to it. I plan on using it a lot more this year than I did last year. And after reading the success you've had with it off the tee I may even give it a try off of real tight par 4's. I don't carry a 5 wood or a 3 iron right now so that's the club I need to use in that gap.
