Hi everyone! Just joined the forum, but have been viewing the forum for some time now on getting tips, reviews, etc. I used to play when I was in my early teens and then stopped playing for many years. I am now 26 and played around 20-25 rounds this summer and my score has stayed the exact same. I try and get to the range a day or so before I go play a round and nothing seems to change. If my irons are working, my putter wont drop and my driver never seems to work. I use an r11 9 degree with stiff stock shaft. At the range I can keep the ball dead straight 35 out of 40 times. Once I hit the course the ball starts off straight and then just darts left 90 percent of the time. (Im a lefty). Yesterday I went out for 18 and started boggie on par 4, missing the green in reg, par on par 5 hitting fairway and green in reg, and par on par 4 doing the same thing. After that things went to hell. Next hole hit a 6 then 7 and then apparently forgot how to swing a golf club. Back 9 I lost 15 balls in the span of 5 holes and then just got in my car and went home. Most miserable golfing day to date. I have tried every ball, swing stance, speed club, etc. How come my swing at the range just doesn't translate to the course? And when it does it is only a few times?

without seeing your swing I would assume its because there are some flaws and timing is your key to playing good golf. On the range you find a good tempo and it works but, going out and playing it can vary and its not like you can hit 5 drivers in a row to find it back.  I think the best thing you could do is take some golf lessons and really work on your game.  Find someone who uses video so you can actually see what you are doing will also help alot. If your ball flight is starting straight and slicing your path is out to in and you probably depend on your hands alot to hit the ball relativley straight.

So if I was you I would be looking for a good pro in my area to start a lesson plan to develop a less timing dependent swing. Also its the indian not the arrow clubs don't make a huge difference until you get to a higher level of play.

Good luck!

I am going to have some videotape me on my next trip to the range and post. Could it be the balls I am using enable more side spin? I seldom switch balls from callaway tour is, prov 1 and pro v 1x, nike tour, nike 20xis, and titelist nxt tours? I am trying to find everything that can possibly be wrong with my game and change it so I can enjoy a few round before end of summer. Nothing felt better than those first 3 holes yesterday after hitting every fair and green in reg and missing birdie putts by inches rather than attempting boggie and double boggie puts.

    • Day 3 (5 Apr 25) - long day with setup and rehearsal for band’s church service gig tomorrow.  Got home to hit a very chippy wedges (from about 10ft to out to 40yds or so).  Focus was simple - feel the bounce and quiet hands.
    • Day 187 - 2025-04-05 Got my time in today. Hoping to get a little more time in tomorrow, though. May get there early.
    • Day 14: 4/5/25 Putting through 50 mm gates.
    • While on vacation in Punta Cana a few weeks ago I played with rental clubs, Mizuno Pro 245's with KBS Tour Lite steel shafts. Surprisingly, I was blown away, not only by the distance, trajectory and dispersion I was getting but also about how soft and buttery they felt. It got me thinking.... IT'S TIME FOR NEW IRONS! Just yesterday, at my local Golf Galaxy, I tested them again side by side with the JPX Forged (recommended by the Mizuno rep who happened to be there) which also felt pretty good. Not as buttery soft as the 245's but they did produce slightly better numbers on off-center hits. Also, I haven't played with forged clubs with steel shafts in 10 years thinking I was getting too old and that I needed the lighter weight but these clubs with that shaft felt really, really good. So that's my long and drawn-out intro to my question: Does anyone here at TST play with either of these clubs and if so, what's your opinion?
