I am ready to pull the plug and get a new set of irons. I have been checking at either Callaway's RAZR X irons or Cobra's S3 irons. I have hit both of them and they appear both very nice irons. My handicap is 18, but my game has been improving over the past year.

If anyone has played either of the irons or both of them, would appreciate your comments and/or recommendations before buying a set.

If you have hit them, our opinions shouldn't matter in your decision. Both are fine sets. Pick the one that you hit the best. If you hit them both the same, pick the less expensive option.

I have hit the S3 Max and I own a set of Razr X, what i've noticed with my razr x's is that even the miss hits get good distance! I feel much more confident with these clubs in my hands, either way though you are getting a great set of clubs!

Both brands are quite good. My advice would be buy the one which has a better deal/price. You will not regret with either one.

Also, after golfing for 50 years, I have learned direction is more important than distance, for scoring with irons.. If you can hit both sets on a driving range, checkout which gives you better control on direction.

    • I appreciate that you have taken the time to come back and update. Based on what was previously discussed I feel like the points were; forged, feel good, price, and possibly players distance. If you like the "looks" of those Maxfli irons and if price is a major point, then going straight to the source, Maltby, might make sense. Specifically, the TS3 iron. I was looking into this myself and found some reviews: Fit2YouGolf, Lets Play Thru, and ELITE FIT GOLF. As per your update I found the Maxfli to be ~$1300 fitted the way I wanted. Where the TS3 with the same fitting and assembled by Golfworks was less than $750. I suppose the downside is to actually hit the iron you will need to get lucky and find someone in your golf circle who will let you hit theirs or order a 6 or 7 iron to test. However, the way I look at that is being equivalent to some fittings. If you like the results and buy, then the fitting is free, otherwise the price of the fitting is a sunk cost. If name brand is important, then I submit for your consideration - THE BEST OVERALL IRON of 2024...... FACT !! 😉 A bit tongue in cheek that but also, I feel some good points were discussed.
