On the 18th at the Shell this weekend after hitting his approach into the water, Stuart Appleby let out an emphatic f-bomb, which was captured in all it's HD glory. The announcers didn't acknowledge it, but it was plain as day.

I know he'll probably get fined. And if there was ever a situation to be ticked off about a bad shot, that was it. It's not the first time he's done it though. I really like Apples, but I think he could have behaved better.

The video is posted here.

If the video was there, I sure couldn't find it.

How could you miss it? If you had the tournament on and were at all paying attention you couldn't miss it. It was loud and the camera was right on him. I imagine this thread will replace the "Sergio spit in the cup" thread from last week. The only thing Appleby might have going for him here is his accent.... but yeah, even with that it was pretty clear.

I thought it was my imagination.

How does the TOUR treat it if a player swears in a foreign language? I occasionally swear in Chinese after a bad drive. Of course, I'm not even remotely close to TOUR quality, so I don't have to worry.

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

I continue to be surprised how the networks can pretend to be surprised when they stick a long-range microphone in a player's face after a shot goes bad.

What to they expect to hear, exactly?

Golly gee whiz?

I agree 1000%. If they don't want to hear the odd swear word keep the microphones out of range.

It's not as clear though as the F-bomb one of the Red Sox players dropped on live TV after winning the world series two years ago.

I also totally agree. While it is their job to represent the sport with integrity, emotions can get the best of us all. Give me a break... they had the camera zoomed in on him well after the ball went in the water. It was if they were looking for a reaction. Well, they got it.... and funny as hell that the announcers didn't say a thing about it but made such a big deal over the Garcia incident last week.

I don't think it's funny at all. Every time I play golf and I play a lot of golf I will hear someone swear. But in all my years I have NEVER seen anyone drop a golly in to the hole.

Relax... I didn't mean it like that. If you saw the Garcia incident live, they didn't say anything about it then either. Johnny Miller started to say something and then stopped himself. The funny thing is I think they want to pretend they didn't see/hear it. I've said many times (in the Garcia thread) that his actions were uncalled for. It's disgusting. However, after I imagine people called in they talked about the Garcia incident a lot and even interviewed him about it. I'm not saying they shouldn't have but there wasn't even a mention of Appleby. Perhaps because it was so close to the end of the tournament.

    • Day 10: 2/16/2025 Just like yesterday I spent several 5-10 minute sessions working on what I learned on Friday.  My new priority pieces.
    • Day 26 (16 Feb 25) - Basically a repeat of yesterday- only it was a bit more expanded chips/pitches - 7i, 9i, 50° and 58°.   Big exception was I was hitting groups of 5 one club at a time.  Focused on a specific target point - and coming smoothly through the ball, not punchy.  Got it right about 3 out of 5 - more work needed.
    • You probably haven't turned much and instead have just pulled your left arm across your chest.
    • Things didn’t work out with the cutting horse barn my wife was working for there in Virginia. Their Texas facility we were supposed to move down to ended up delayed for at least an extra year after they’d had us leave Virginia to meet them down there “shortly”. So we ended up getting some land by her family in Missouri and building a house of our own down here instead. Not as many courses, but there is one 5 minutes from the house that’s only $62/mo for both of us to be members at and other nicer ones within a reasonable drive as well.    @Rick_D I’ll try to remember to let you know when I’m heading up that direction. It may happen more frequently in the coming year since a dealer for a business I started recently is based out of St Charles so making deliveries myself might be more economical than shipping.
    • I don’t know why my swing got so vertical there. That wasn’t normal.    What did you mean by point 3? I get the hip turn portion.
