I have set of clubs stashed at my parents' place, so I don't have to travel with my clubs. I went out for a visit, and a cousin was there who wanted to play. I just bought a second bag (I already had an extra putter and driver - both lousy), and we split the irons evens and odds.

I actually enjoyed the challenge of hitting a 7-iron to an 8-iron distance.  Fun stuff, and I actually think it was good for my game.

Here at home, I picked up a super-cheap Ping bag at a garage sale, and I keep an older set of clubs in it just in case someone comes by and wants to play.

A friend and I share a set on a 9 hole par 3 so we are never far from each other but he brings his own putter.  It is the only club that will fit in his sports car.

You have got to post a picture of this single seat sports car.

1/2 hour isn't that long to go to borrow a set in my opinion.  You could always rent one too.

I'll try the two bag idea. I'd like to apologize to everyone for not knowing such a widespread rule. I've been out of golf for 10+ years until now.
