Why Aerate Right Before The Holiday Weekend?

Played both weekend days this week and would be playing again today if the weather would have cooperated. Both courses had just gone through aeration but of course charged full price and failed to mention the aeration when I called to book a tee time. I have played at places where the aeration process does not severely alter the day out. However, both places this weekend used the process that leaves large holes with accompanying lines etched in the putting surface.

So what gives with doing this right before a Holiday weekend? What do you think of courses that charge full price for these conditions and fail to mention the conditions when you call for tee times?

Edit: The second course gave a $10 coupon for a future round which may have been due to the conditions, I don't know. Since nobody mentioned the aeration when I made the tee time or when I went to pay it didn't dawn on me, until I started this thread, that the $10 coupon might have been due to the course conditions. I would have rather they just took $5 or so off the round I played with the course in poor condition.

I would assume that they don't bother mentioning it because the high handicappers that tend to crowd courses on holiday weekends don't have a game good enough for it to negatively impact them.  Having said that, I agree with you though...I would like to at least be able to make an informed decision about whether or not to play a particular course, so I feel they should have mentioned it. I guess that's why I don't own my own course though...lol
