i'm going to be in Miami in 6 weeks and am also interested in some suggestions.    Difference is I'm looking at bang for the buck .   Paying top dollar takes the fun out of it for me.     Finding good golf on the cheap is half the fun ... thx for any suggestions

I did that last summer with the same thought!  Very disappointed in the service there.  I pulled up under the cover and a valet rushed in, unloaded the clubs, gave me a receipt and snached my car.  Cool says I!!!  Not cool when things were done!!  $18 when all was said and done.  They forgot to mention that part!!

The pro shop nor the starter much cared that I was there.  Barely any direction as to where to go and I was not paired up with anyone so it was slow going.  All was good since I took the opportunity to get in a little practice.  Well at the turn they put/allowed in a guy and his three kids behind me (obviously a member) and that killed my practice.  Two "elite juniors" (according to the starter) were ahead of me and never asked me to join up or go through.  So it August and somewhere near 186 degrees and a bit sticky and playing very slow. Not an optimal experience.

At then end didn't know what to do with the cart and couldnt find a cart guy or anyone to deal with my clubs, so I dumped the cart in the middle of everything grabbed my clubs and left.

Good track just not the service level I would expect for 2 bills!!!!

My 2 cents.

A) Not all courses down here have bad mosquitos in the summer. Usually just ones that are out West. Crandon is an exception being East. So the advice is relevant. Bring bug spray and it should be fine. Don't bring bug spray and you'll be miserable.

B) I didn't say anything about hills, so not sure where you're going with that.

Oh, I'm just ranting. Yeah you didn't mention hills but someone else. Just saying that if anyone is looking for elevation changes & mosquito-less conditions, SoFla ain't the place to go.

But if you're looking for sunny 75-degree weather in February, cmon down!

TourSpoon, you're right about Clermont/Lake County. They got some hills there & some nice courses. I like Black Bear in Eustis.

    • It isn't about maintaining focus 100% of the time when you are on the course. It is getting focus back for the shot at hand. Even PGA tour players will chat with their caddies or opponents about non-golf stuff, but then lock in. It is hard to try to constantly be 100% locked in for 4+ hours.  Totally normal thing to happen. You really only need a few moments of focus.  This is where a pre-shot routine helps. Maybe you need to add something that gets the focus back.  I just focus on every shot like a puzzle that needs solved. I like solving puzzle and problems. So, I try to be curious. Which then enhances focus. I think it lets me take each shot at hand. It lets me have the down time between shots. What I do is just get to the ball, and then start gathering information. Yardage, lie, wind, where is the pin at, etc.. Then I figure out what I want to do.  It's not like I can't shut off the thoughts and focus when I need to. I only need to focus for a few minutes before each shot.
