I went to Angeles National GC in So Cal and had a on range driver fitting.  This is the way to go as you can see the results live on the range.

It was an interesting experience.  The guy was very honest and we used the numbers and his analysis to determine my drives good and bad are roughly a result of 70% swing mechanics and 30% shaft related.   So we turned it into more of a lesson, but I did try a different shaft on my driver and it did help with consistency.

My numbers on the flightscope were:

Swing speed between 98 and 104MPH

Ball speed around 140 average

Spin 2800 average

Carry 228-234

Smash factor 1.40 average.

I'm losing a lot of lag, my ball speed should be higher given the swing speed. I did hit a few good drives, carry about 265.  Overall I hit about 40 drives on the scope.  If you watch the video, you can see I fall to my right a bit on the backswing, that is something I need to work on.

I currently have a R9 with a Motore 65G Stiff flex.  The recommendation was a stiffer tip, heavier X-Stiff shaft.

Those are pretty good numbers.  Why did he want you to use an X-flex?

To fix the short term issue I have with casting.  I'm tensing up right after the start of the down swing, thus losing the lag.  Obviously the shaft was only to fit my existing swing, the better option would be to fix the swing, then re-evaluate.

I forgot one measurement, launch angle was 14 degrees, I play a 9.5 degree driver, upright neutral.
