Do old shaft stop working as well?

Do shafts get old and change over time, use, heat from the trunk or garage... Is a 5-year old PX 5.5 likely to perform exactly like a new PX 5.5? Assuming you don't bend them, will they perform the same "forever" even if they have been played a lot?

I'm looking at buying a used iron in part to test the shaft. Will it be a far test if the shaft is old but not abused? I also have a great Accra driver shaft in my garage that is about ten years old. Is it likely as good as new?

As long as the graphite shaft is not cracked, there is no sign that the layers are peeling off the shaft and it's not exposed to high temperatures for a long period of time, shafts will last a long, long time.  Just a myth that shafts "wear" out of fatigue.
