Greetings ...

Seung-Hei Cho, the Virginia Tech gunman, conducted transactions on EBAY under the username of blazers5505 , according to this CNN report

Among the things he bought were two 2-packs of Walther P22 10-round magazines .

He also sold a Texas Instruments TI-83 calculator , as well as a 2006 Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl ticket (football game, Georgia beat Virginia Tech).

The transaction links will expire after 90 days, unless EBAY removes them sooner. Also, it's a safe bet that Cho's feedback profile will probably be removed as well.

I've saved the EBAY pages to PDF files.

Peace to Virginia Tech from Frank-0-Sport

My thoughts exactly. So what? Does that make ebay evil or something because some nutball bought supplies for his sick deed there?

Frankly, when I heard this on the news last night I thought "So what? This is a non-story. What a waste of perfectly good airtime.".

Really though who cares...this is a probelm with our society, we take thigns and beat them into the ground good or bad. This guy killed 32 people and all you hear about is him, stop talking about him and let the families try to start the healing process.

consider me the 1 out of 100 that actually cares frank-o.

im very interested in every aspect of the people involved in situations like this. not only does it help me understand where people may be coming from in certain situations, it probably helps the families as well.

think about if it happend to you, but you didnt know the person, the reason, or the means by which they achieved thier goal. im pretty sure that wouldnt help you. people need closure. they need answers.

a seller on e-bay doesnt have the means or the reason to do background checks on someone to find out if they should be getting weaponry or bullets.

unfortuneately in the wack ass state of virginia, someone needs to be commited into an institution for them to be restricted from purchasing fire arms. so though Cho was a wack job, he never was commited. he was just suggested for counceling and underwent some kinda evaluation and apparently passed? crazy.

yeah, i dont really care...i just kinda wish all these reporters/camera people would leave town.

i also was really annoyed by the fact that all the media people tried to blame the police and president of tech. Cuz none of the students and people here were, just those dumb people like katie couric...ugh, she got on my nerves.

I understand the point of covering for the day of and maybe two or three days after but the only person that could be happy about the continuous V-tech coverage is Don Imus cause it took his ass out of the soptlight.

Maybe if our media didn't give these "whack jobs" the airtime they desire, we wouldn't see so many copy cats. Just like the Columbine shooters, all they were looking for was a way to get their message out. Our media never should have aired any of it. Now this shooter knew if he shot a bunch of innocent people and mailed a package to NBC he'd be famous and get his "I'm the real victim" message out. I'm sick of the news stations making the shooter out to be a victim. If our media wants to focus on victims, maybe they should focus on the REAL ones. The innocent people who lost their life that day!!

My heart goes out the Va Tech victims and their families. I wish they didn't have to keep watching this murder's face, name, and message being splashed across the media.

Perhaps not allowing ammunition to be sold over ebay might help reduce the incidences of this type. I have a question for the first poster though what is your point ? and why have you saved the ebay pages to pdf?

It's in the "Grill Room" forum. You can talk about whatever you want here, like a real grill room... politics, whatever.

This is the problem with society today. This guy commits these awful, tragic crimes and gets his face splattered all over the news like a friggin villain superhero. The fact that he sold a calculator and a couple of tickets on ebay is news. The NY Times put his picture on the cover of their paper, you know the one with him aiming the guns. Geez...

Obviously the fact that he purchased the magazines on ebay is relevent. But it's not ebay's fault or even the guy who sold them (although I'm sure he feels like a piece of shit). Perhaps, as a previous post said, this will seize the sales of these kind of items on ebay.

Why should it stop the sales of these items? Guns are still the point of control. You can't do anything with just ammo (well, not without being creative, and if you were gonna do that you may as well build an actual bomb rather than a bomb made out of bullets or something).

So long as you can walk into a Wal-Mart and buy ammunition (as I believe we should be able to do) - ANONYMOUSLY (as I believe we should be able to do) - eBay should allow the sale of magazines, ammunition, etc. It's almost no different than buying online from major retailers (or specifically the gun/reloading retailers). Guns and ammunition and so on had nothing to do with this case except that it was his chosen weapon. How about the mental health issues the kid had? Two years ago if you had a carry permit you were legally allowed to have your gun on the V.Tech campus: had one of the students (or professors) been armed, a lot of lives could have been saved. I don't want to turn this into a gun debate, so I'll cut myself off now and summarize the above: a) There are a lot more places you can buy ammunition, clips, etc. that are LESS private than eBay, which has accounts that can be tracked. b) I couldn't care less where he bought his stuff. My first post in this thread attests to that: who cares if he used eBay?

I couldn't agree more. I've always believed there would be less mass shootings if more people carried guns. Gun control laws only take weapons out of law abiding citizens hands. If this guy was capable of murdering 32 innocent people he was also capable of stealing the weapons he needed to do so. Everyone keeps talking about whose fault this is and pointing fingers. There is only one person to point at....the shooter. Not ebay, not the guy who sold the clips, not the Va Tech faculty. (I realize nobody in this forum was blaming these people)

Guns don't kill people. They're inanimate objects that do the bidding of the human being handling them. I agree.

Let's leave it at that. The gun control debate will only serve to fracture forum participants, and we're here because we share a common love for the game of golf, not because our political leanings are similar. So, I don't want to close the thread, but I am going to warn others to please drop the topic.

    • Day 430 - 2025-12-04 Slow motion backswings (with chippy shots) with AlmostGolf balls.
    • Day 24 (4 Dec 25) - Spent about an hour working with the new 55° wedge in the backyard.  Kept all shots to under 20yds.  Big focus - not decelerating thru downswing and keeping speed up with abbreviated backswing.  Nothing like hitting a low flighted chip with plenty of check spin and then purpose to float a pitch of similar distance.
    • Day 114 12-4 Put some work in on backswing, moving the hips correctly, then feeling over to lead side. Didn't hit any balls was just focused on keeping flowy and moving better. I'll probably do another session tonight and add in some foam balls.
    • Didn't say anything about your understanding in my post.  Well, if you are not insisting on alignment with logic of the WHS, then no.  Try me/us. What do you want from us then?? You are not making sense. You come here and post in an open forum, question a system that is constructed with logic, without using any of your own and then give us a small window of your personal experience to support your narrative which at first sight does not makes sense.  I mean, if you are a point of swearing then I would suggest you cut your losses and humor a more gullible audience elsewhere. Good heavens.
    • I have access to far more data (including surveys and polls) than you do with your anecdotes. I mean this as plainly and literally as possible: you’ve demonstrated that you do not. They would, one way or the other.
