Image Galleries Refresh, Phase I (of III)

The first phase of Image Galleries improvements is rolling out with this release. This phase is primarily a revamp of personal albums: basically all image gallery pages that are linked off of a user's profile page. The rest of the existing pages for galleries will be addressed in Phase II.

Image Viewer
The main improvement is that flipping through images is much faster and slicker. Compared to the current image galleries, we will also be displaying larger images.

Album View
We've redesigned this page to have a bigger, more modern display of thumbnails. Editing workflows have also been reworked to eliminate unnecessary steps

Avatar Album
When you click a user's avatar on their profile, you will be brought to this album. This album will retain old avatars, so that every time the user chooses a new avatar it gets added here. Users still have the control to delete images from this album, just like a normal album.

Recent Photos
We've added a more stream-like view for recent photos. The first iteration of this recent photos view is for an individual user.

Other Changes

  • No more private albums - these comprise a tiny percentage of all albums, and really serve no purpose on community sites. Users will no longer be able to create private albums, or change albums to private. Existing private albums will be grandfathered in. However, instead of still seeing the option to toggle an album as private/public, users will only be able to convert these to public albums. This will be a one-way conversion.
  • No more image titles - we used to have image titles and descriptions. It turns out that users really couldn't figure out a good way to use both of these and often ended up just repeating information. To simplify things, we've done away with image titles (the vast majority of which were simply filenames anyway) and we now only prompt users for a description.

Bugs Fixed

  • #7032 - By popular demand, we can now set up User Awards in different sizes. They can also be configured to display inside the postbit rather than below the signature.
  • #7532 - Fixed problem of overlapping signature lines
  • #7125 - The new infraction form should now respect your editor preference more consistently. If no PM template is established for the infraction type you're issuing, you can expect to see your editor of choice. If on the other hand a PM template has been set up, the format of it may supercede your preference.
  • #7190 - Certain pages on the site show both a registration form and a login form in the header. We sorted out the form validation rules in these cases so that they don't collide and complain "your passwords don't match" when you're just trying to login.
  • #7338 - Thread list pages should now sort by reply/view count more accurately.
  • #7357 - We tuned a caching issue which was causing some reviews not to show up on the product page immediately after being written.
  • #7377 - Some visual improvements were made to the spacing between elements in Classifieds list view.
  • #7392 - We fixed a bug in the recently released subscriptions option to show only content with unread posts. In some cases, the pagination controls were incorrectly based on how many total subscriptions you had, not the number with unread posts.
  • #7415 - Our product importer was sometimes breaking product images when their filenames contained URL encoding, but this has been tightened up.
  • #7253 - A bug was resolved that had rendered inoperable the config that turns off Public Messages on profiles.
  • #7448 - There was a slight glitch with forums configured to allow logged-out users to only view the forum titles and not threads. If you had multiple nested levels of such forums, they would not all show at the top level. You'd have to dig through one level at a time to see the child subforums. We resolved this.
  • #4479 - Moderator validation of content was completely destroying prior user flags instead of just negating their value. Previously existing user flags on a content item should simply be muted when a moderator validates the content.
  • #7450 - We cleaned up some minor CSS issues with posts that had earned reputation. This affected a limited set of Huddler sites.

    • Bryson got hit with a 2 shot penalty, after the round, for improving his lie on hole 5.  Here is a post on X, showing how he stepped on high grass when he was looking down his target line.  When they cut to the side shot, you can see how close he was behind the ball.  I think the R&A probably made the correct decision. You just have to be really careful when you are walking in the high grass, around the ball and where you are to make a swing.

    • Day 27 (17 July 26) - Normally an 18 hole day, but due to commitments abbreviated the round to 9 holes (played the back nine at home course).  Had a solid session where even the worst miss (tee shot off 18) was fully playable.  Shot a solid 39 (6pars, 3bogies) - not dbls, no three putts - just boring golf.
    • Overall, well said. People have to be very careful in trying to describe very complex problem in simple terms. In this case, it is a clear fundamental misunderstanding of Newton's 1st and 3rd laws.  To clarify more on the misinterpretation of Newton's 1st law. The exact interpretation of Newton's 1st Law....  "Every body continues in its state of rest, or of uniform motion in a straight line, unless it is compelled to change that state by forces impressed upon it" yea, a body will stay motionless unless a force acts upon it. An object will stay on its path of motion unless a force acts upon it.  I get it, complex physics problems are difficult. There is a lot of simplification done in most physics class when it is taught. A classic problem uses a frictionless surface. Projectile motion excludes drag and wind direction. Collisions are usually elastic. The golf swing is not a simple physics problem.  Yea, I think they got caught up the data on the graphs and are not truly understanding cause and effect.  If the golfer isn't first pushing into the ground, then the ground isn't going to push back.  The internal forces of the body create the motion, not the external forces from the ground. The ground isn't like what Psy uses to start his concert. 🤣 You probably need to be connected to the ground and have those GRF to help the body produce the motion you want. Your body has to move in the right way to produce the GRF which helps you move the body in the way you want. Body motion precedes the GRF.
