Hello Everyone,

I recently read a few great threads on forum, and thought it would be good to become a member.

I've been playing a few years, but haven't taken the game up seriously until now.  I struggle to break 100 most of the time.  I look forward to breaking 90 consistently, and improving further this coming year.  I would be there already if I could just put my drives in the fairway most of the time.

Hey, nice name! I've got a 9' Olhausen with with some nice Simonis in my "game room" and some custom sticks from a local maker. Haven't played in awhile - the table tennis thing has been sitting on top for awhile - but I'm itching to get back into shooting some pool.

Thanks for the links, Mike.  I spent time late last night reading over them, especially the Swing Thoughts.  Good stuff.

I'm jealous of you, Erik.  I wish I still had a table around.  I had to leave behind my super-tight 9" GCIV when I moved to Jacksonville 3 years ago, and I miss it tremendously.  Do you get out to Valley Forge for the Billiards Expo every March?  If not, it's a real treat for someone into custom cues and high-level pool.  I went to it in 2009 for the first time.

I haven't gone. Most I've ever really done was go to a pro event at Turning Stone. The wife was thrilled about that... not. :)

I've never really been good. It's just a fun thing to do from time to time. I spend time working on my stroke when I can, but I've never entered a tournament and never plan to. I just like beating my brother in law and a few friends who come over. :)

I was fortunate to find a great cue maker 10 miles away: http://www.dzcues.com/ .

    • A strong grip cups the wrist (lead) and then it wants to flatten through impact, something I used to be able to avoid to keep it from going left and protecting my forearm (the main premise of my set up). Longer the club, harder it is becoming. Either way, yes, I need to transition to gripping it open.
    • Why don't you grip it "open" so you can return your hand to the place where you're comfortable/not sore, but the ball won't go left? It's effectively weaker… without actually "being" weaker?
    • Day 47 - 2024-11-16 Light backswing work with about 3 or 4 rehearsals for every ball hit. Only about ten minutes while waiting for a potential member to show up (he was 25 minutes late). 😛
    • Idk but I would have to imagine that a putter that is aimed where you think it's aimed would be the most important aspect of a putter
