Hello all,

I have just recently started playing golf about 2 years ago.  I think I am having problems with my grip and my wrist cocking.  Can anyone direct me to some instructional videos (youtube, sandtrap or otherwise) that would help a fairly new golfer like myself to get straightened out?

Generally speaking, for a neutral grip you want both seams between your index finger and thumb to point somewhere between your right shoulder and right ear (for a right handed golfer). There is more to it than that though, if you could post a picture I could probably help more.

With that said, grip isn't end all to end all. It is really important, but some of the best ball strikers have different grips. For instance Hogans grip does not look anything like Snead's grip.

Again, see if you can post a video or picture of your grip and "wrist cocking" and I could probably help a lot more.

I like a stronger grip, so i like both V's to point towards my right shoulder. Note, if you do change your grip, change both hands. If your left hand is very weak and your right hand is very strong, then that will conflict. You want to keep them close. For me, my left hand might point towards my right ear and my right hand towards my right shoulder, but there both on the side of being stronger than neutral.

my left hand is strong, (usually see 2 knuckles) with the 'v' pointing towards my right shoulder, however my top hand v is more towards my right ear...which helps my lag (just how it feels, don't know if it actually is THAT much different than if it were more towards my right shoulder)
